floppy:
I already have 2. But if I'm getting a mil for each additional kid, I would confirm/guarantee/chop to try and form my own football team. That's $9m kaching :rotflmao:
OOOPPSSS..
At first, I read it as \"if I get a mother-in-law for each additional kid, I would confirm/guarantee/chop to try and form my own football team\"

RE: Singapore Tops Biggest Global Education Rankings
optimistforum:
I will never slag off your education to anyone. Your education system and parents who really value education are to be lauded. Parents in England take education for granted, as so much is spent on it in our taxes.RRMummy:
But cannot blame Optimistforum for drawing that conclusion when we have people who keep saying teachers don't teach, cannot do without tuition, tutors better than school teachers, etc.
Funz ah, yah cannot blame and not out to blame but I think it important enough that he gets the correct idea. Imagine him going around amongst his group of friends n acquaintance s telling that Singapore education is all inflated with bad books and bad teachers! :yikes:
BTW, the ranking is meaningless to me. :celebrate:
That being said, I would take an England education over a Singaporean one, as ours is geared to 21st century way of life. Don't know much about your new curricula, but your previous ones were no different than that taught in England until the mid 60s. We just do too much in too short a time. But please, if you get the chance just listen to children from England in how they attempt things, and think out of the box. We have moved way beyond textbook teaching to inculcating free thinking and empowerment.
Hmm.. Curious.. When you said new England education, is it the same curricula in your government and private schools? -

I'm now here to confirm that my girls have great teachers. Really hardworking and good. For all of you who also had or are having good teachers, please step out. -

RE: Singapore Tops Biggest Global Education Rankings
optimistforum:
You said Singaporeans said tuition give better results. Not a wrong statement. Like I said, these children need more personalised attention in their weak subjects. With tuition, this is what they get and hence better results. But it is entirely different when u say our school and books are blehAutumnBronze
I have followed this forum for over eight years, I have also spoken with many parents and tutors in SG. a couple of teachers, too. They unanimously stated that it is tutors who have helped provide better results. But I have not heard the same said about your schools. Suffice to say I think your culture is wonderful in seeing a quality education as a driving force for social mobility and aspiration
What you also do not and will not understand is the mindset and expectations of parents here.
