I don't really see this as \"rude\" by the way. It's a simple case of lack of awareness. Even we adults routinely demonstrate much \"rudeness\" due to lack of awareness, esp. with regards to religion, race, etc.
Agree with you on this one... Basically it's a lack of awareness than rudeness. My boy and I met a very plumpish lady on the streets once, and he commented to me \"why so fat??!!\" ... Thankfully I do not think that it was within ear shot of the lady, so I immediately explained to him that it is not very nice to say that of others and the lady will be sad if she heard that... So far have not heard him make such comments since... But of cos if he does that after I have explained to him then I will attribute that to being very rude indeed  ... I would apologise if the not appropriate remarks he made were within ear shot of the person that he/she might be offended.
As my wife and I are considered polite to each other as in we say thank you all the time whether at home or outside... My son seems to have picked that up except that he is only polite to us. I'm still working on having him being polite to others as well... He tells me he is SHY 😐 I will usually tell him that shy is not an excuse because he is being rude by not expressing his gratitude if others did him a favour
