I think it takes about half a day. If you have something going on, perhaps you can call the school to find out more details.Hi, can seniors here advice how long wil the orientation take?
As I may need to travel later that day, I wish to know what is necessary to be done on that day and how long is the estimated completion time required?
Thank you. :celebrate: -

:thankyou: for replying.
After seeing no reply yesterday, I actually did call up the school and they said abt 1.5hrs. Just to share with others here who are interested, they will let us know what is expected, get booklist etc. I was told that it is not necessary to purchase the uniform and books on that day. There will be a couple of days allocated for that... -
Wow....due to PSLE marking, no school for 4 days of next week...
And the very next week is SA2 for P1 - 5.....

If I recall correctly, i think it is also a norm in other schools...Wow....due to PSLE marking, no school for 4 days of next week...

hmm... wondering, do you take long leave to coach your child for SA2? -
RRMummy:
I did not do that for P1.

Do not intend to do for SA2...
Just closer coaching at night and then throw other schools paper to him for the day time (He is in afternoon session) -

Good luck for your DS's SA2! -
I'm getting restless about getting all the necessary stuff for my DD1 for P1... Nov 13 orientation feels so far away and in the meantime nothing to start with...
So i'm wondering,
1. How many pairs of uniform / PE attire did you buy for your child?
2. How many pairs of shoe? Any restrictions?
3. School bag - How big? Which is reliable?
4. Start time and end time for school? Recess time?
5. How much pocket money?
etc...etc...   -

I can understand your \"concerns\"!

1) We bought 2 pairs each for my dd. Buy slightly larger size clothes as kids grow very fast.
2) We have only a pair of school shoes but 2-3 pairs of socks - very smelly if you dont wash daily.
3) We use something like a haversack. Some kids use something like a travelling bag with a handle; make sure your boy can carry the big bag up and down the staircase. Outside the school, you may have a maid or a parent to help. Once in the school, the kid has to settle himself.
4) Read the student's handbook or find out during the Orientation. For the lower primary, I think the kids will be in the school around 12.30pm onwards. If your kid is in BASC, the staff will know the timings. The school is dismissed around 6.30pm. Please re-confirm.
5) If you pack snacks and bread for his recess, you can give little or no money. The coins given will likely to be spent on his \"favourite\" items such as junk food, stickers etc.... Anyway, give him about $1 plus packed snack/food and see how he manages this pocket $$. -
