Wondering if the school will know. Why not you venture in to find out? Mine will be horrid in telling me what is the price, I’m just grateful for any nugget of information on what he ate (or did not eat) during the day.

amazing hor. Given our body sizes, milo and fresh air will actually suit me better (so I can slim down); and he eat what I eat…topsy turvy world.

The mystery is finally solved. I contacted the school and found out that technically, there’s no increase in price. The food in question was bee hoon, the price was suppose to be $1 but becos some kids don’t want so much or didn’t bring enough money, so the canteen aunty either gave them smaller portion and charge lower price. But now it’s being standardised becos cost of ops too high so will stick to original price of $1 and the content of the food will be standardised, meaning kids cannot pick and choose extra items or items that make up $1. This is to reduce queue.

I thought quite sad that kids cannot choose the food items they want. But if by doing so more kids have more time to eat, then I guess it’s a good trade-off.

i am oso interested to know more abt Hong Wen.

going to make a hard decision next year which will affect his 6yrs of primary school life.

Parents of Hongwen, is this school good? i dunno a better word to use. 😕 Academically and values teaching wise?

my hb is an old boy (and his siblings as well). all spoke fondly of their primary school. And in a way i would like my boy to go to this school as it offers higher chinese. but i got one big consideration, i.e. we stay in sengkang. Don't know whether this decision will adverserly affects him due to long travel distance.

If only i win 5 Mil toto tonight. then i can simply buy a new place near the school whahahahah 😄 😄 😄

                        Hi smurfy,

Not sure if my post will be useful to you.

I have no idea about the school's past PSLE results but I like Hong Wen. The teachers and non-academic staff that I encountered are nice. Even the female security guard is nice. 😂 My dd1 is in P1 this year.

I also like the P, he seems like a guy who knows what he's doing.

Most of the school work are done in school. I don't have to guide much on the work that dd1 brought home but I do eye-ball them. For example, this wk she had to write about her recent school excursion, I didn't have to guide her becos she was provided a note with guiding qns. At P1, I'm letting her to learn how to complete her work independently so that hopefully I don't have heartaches when she's in upper primary. So I'm happy that her teacher provided some guiding qns for her to think how to write her piece. For show & tell, I love it that there are practice topics before the graded one so that dd1 able to learn along the way. There are also guiding qns provided for S&T. The school also arranged for outsourced speech and drama lesson, paid via Edusave, conducted during curriculum time to help the kids with language and I feel it also help in S&T. Of course for a very introverted child, then more time is needed. So I find that the learning experience is gentle for dd1 this year. She's not thrown into the deep end. Though I'm not sure how's the pace like next yr.

Because it's a SAP school, there are many activities that promote Chinese values and culture. I love this as well. DD1 get the chance to learn calligraphy and learn to play the erhu this year, within curriculum time and paid using Edusave. We are a task-oriented family but now dd1 will greet me in the morning and try as much as possible to carry her bag on her way back from school. She likes her teachers and for me this is important becos she must want to learn from her teachers.

This school suits me and my dd1. The pace does not stressed me now 😂

As for logistics. Best to report to school by 7.15am becos there are some assembly activities. Though the latest to be in school is by 7.25am. School ends at 1.35pm from Mon-Thurs and 1.05pm on Fri. If you decide to let your child takes up CCA in P1, then during CCA days, they will be released later as per CCA timing.

There's a BASC within the school but there are limited vacancies so parents would need to ballot if demand is more than supply.
