hi joanna71, i'm chloecube, Greenbelt is my rank in KSFHi Greenbelt
nice to know you.. 1 way $124 is rather ex siah.. start to feel stress already!!!
yes, $124 per month for 1-way is expensive, this exclude the extra money u have to top-up (for me is $5 per trip) if your son has to stay back for CCA or remedial hor...then June and Dec holidays also have to pay in advance.
P1 and P2, staying back is not that often, but when they reach P3, they will have at least 1 day of staying back due to CCA.
next yr, DD will be joining DS in NA, if there were to take the school transport. that will be $250 per month! :yikes:
therefore i just terminated the service last June and my maid is fetching him from school by public bus. at times, DH will drive him home. i find it cheaper this way and most of all, faster too. if he take the school bus, he is always the last to get off and the journey is around 1.5hr :faint:
currently, DS stays back 3 times per week in school. if he is still taking the school bus, i will need to pay $124 + ($5x12) = $184 per month
you may like to check with the driver first, maybe i am staying far from the school thus the expensive fee.
BTW, i am staying in Tampines -

I am sorry to hear about this. I am sure you and your son must be quite upset about this. How is the situation now? Have you been able to speak to the teacher in question or the form teacher or the P or VP?
Hi,
Thanks for concern. Yesterday i received a phone call from the AM saying the VP has talked with the teacher. Today i received a phone call from the teacher too.
So if my son still wants to return to school we have to come to an end to this matter. There is actually nothing to do about it i guess.
But i come to realise that it's best to keep a really low-profile in school bcos if your kids gets into trouble/met with problems there is no way to get complaints throu... only lots of explainations/excuses etc...
Thanks for looking.
Hi Maddyomum
I'm new to this forum and I'm so sorry to read about your situation.
Hope the situation is better now that the teacher has called you up.
I know this teacher , was my child's teacher before for two years. She is outspoken, strict and definitely fierce. But I have also seen her fun side when she is with her students. And I also find that she is one of the dedicated and passionate teacher in NAPS.
My child did have a tough time in the beginning of P1 adjusting to her style of teaching. But after much communication with her, I find that she listens and makes an effort to help him adjust. With regular meet ups and talks with her everytime I fetch my child from school, my child settled in well and was given several opportunities by her to build his confidence. I would say she is one dedicated teacher that goes all the way out to understand her students, making phone calls to parents to update them about their childs' work and behaviour in school, and even to the extent of doing house call.
My point is this, communicate with this teacher (I believe she will call you too) . She is the kind that is opened to feedback and suggestions . A teacher has so many students to attend to in a class, hence it is important that we as parents feedback and work hand in hand with the teachers to help the child settle in. Now that she has called you, continue to communicate with her , I'm sure your kid will look forward to going back to school again.
I really do sincerely hope your boy gets over his fear. -

My son has finally agreed to return to school on Monday... Having to constantly assuring him that he is not going to be in trouble as he's very \"allergic\" to the mention of the teacher. So i just hope she can just let him be & not try to go forward to \"consult\" him further thus causing him further stress. I think kids needs time to forget difficult times. Luckily my son really don't have any other lessons with her so a lesser chance to communicate is a good choice. Definately no more Remedial classes for him.
I will also not be opened to further conversations regarding this matter with the teacher or the school as i feel it is very HASSELOUS, time wasting & non productive. I strongly feel... IMO...seriously... it is very difficult to communicate with the school regarding anything at all.
Just try to spend 5.5 years & he'll be out of the school. I told my son from now on he has to live an almost transparent profile in school & stay out of trouble. Cos there is no way to get any situations/unhappiness dissolved in the school. -

i agree with sokk. Ms Tay was DS’s form teacher for 2 yrs too. she is fierce but passionate. Maddyomum, i understand how you feel when ur child comes back from school and tell you what he went thru in school. this will certainly upset me too if my kids tell me the same thing. work with the teacher and school and find out what actually happened. i am sure your DS will overcome this problem very soon. children can adapt to new enviroment and changes very fast.

Wondering is it a must to choose a CCA?

Wondering is it a must to choose a CCA?
when DS reached P3, i received a letter from school saying it is compulsory. Parents were invited to attend the talk by the school in helping them to choose a/more CCA.
i allow DS to make decision on this.
but i think you can forego CCA if you have valid reason.
i have a frd's DD in other school, she does not attend CCA at all. -
Hi parents
I understand school-bus one way is expensive; not much difference if you have return.
CCA is actually good for the children cos they’ll not b bored in their school years. One must not only just to study, study n study. You need some CCA to make the school times more interesting and meaningful. Moreover, if the kid is good at certain CCA, there is a chance of getting DSA (Direct Secondary School Admission). No matter b it a sport or performance arts.
I understand NA is very strong in performance arts.
We should always encourage our kids. Do not give negative remarks about the school or teachers in front of them. This will give them a bad negative thoughts and they might dislike school hence will not do well in school. ALWAYS inplants them with positive thinking. Thats my thoughts.
As years get by, they have to face even tougher problems. Sometimes children dont tell all the truth! Analyse before we make the decision. They are afraid that we will scold or punish them. So they will twist some words here and there. Try to fish out from them.
Till now, my son is in P4. I still check his school bag. Bcos if you ask any homework, sometimes, he will forget some subjects and left it not done. I always ask him any exciting or happenings in class or school so we know whats going on. And he is very happy to tell you story. That’s part of the communication and bonding.
