      Hi parents

I understand school-bus one way is expensive; not much difference if you have return.
CCA is actually good for the children cos they’ll not b bored in their school years. One must not only just to study, study n study. You need some CCA to make the school times more interesting and meaningful. Moreover, if the kid is good at certain CCA, there is a chance of getting DSA (Direct Secondary School Admission). No matter b it a sport or performance arts.
I understand NA is very strong in performance arts.
We should always encourage our kids. Do not give negative remarks about the school or teachers in front of them. This will give them a bad negative thoughts and they might dislike school hence will not do well in school. ALWAYS inplants them with positive thinking. Thats my thoughts.
As years get by, they have to face even tougher problems. Sometimes children dont tell all the truth! Analyse before we make the decision. They are afraid that we will scold or punish them. So they will twist some words here and there. Try to fish out from them.
Till now, my son is in P4. I still check his school bag. Bcos if you ask any homework, sometimes, he will forget some subjects and left it not done. I always ask him any exciting or happenings in class or school so we know whats going on. And he is very happy to tell you story. That’s part of the communication and bonding.

Hi mums out there! I agree with sokk to some of what she says. However, I guess everyone has their own opinions. As for me, I was glad that Ms Tay became my child's form teacher as I heard from others that although she's fierce, she is a very dedicated teacher who really looks into the welfare of her students.

Maybe some actions that she has done or some words that she has said might have just hurt the students, but I guess it was never intentional. However, I also hope that she's able to be more sensitive about how the young children might react to her expressive actions. Somethings I might not approve of her doing, but I believe she does it her way that she feels its best for the students.
Communication with her might be a good idea as I also agree with sokk that she's open to opinions and is able to listen and accept other peoples' opinions readily. I thank her for being able to talk to my child when I have difficulty in being able to communicate with my child or trying to understand my child's certain actions and behaviour.
My child initially was afraid of her, being fierce and strict as she is, but eventually, my child adored her very much. Though being fierce and strict, Ms Tay does have a fun and soft side. She is really a fun loving person when you see her in action and she really has the supportive mind to make sure that everyone around her has fun too!
I really appreciate all that Ms Tay has done for my child and am grateful that she is still very supportive up till today. I believe that every teacher would want to nurture their students to be the best not only in their studies, but also in their character.
Though Ms Tay can be quite 'vocal', I also hope that she will try not to 'shout' at the children too much as it seems that affects the children to a certain extent. Being loud and shouting are 2 different matters, just hoping that she will try not to be too 'loud'! 😛

        Dear Maddyomum,
I hope that your child is adjusting better in school now and I'm sure things will turn out better for your child. Every child has their own ways of adjusting and I believe that every child has the capability to adjust to any kind of environment as long as their parents are there to support them and give them the love and assurance. Wish you all the best! 🙂

Hi I read somewhere in this forum that Ngee Ann assess the kid’s Chinese ability in P1 and ‘stream’ them accordingly. How does this work? Do the kids join a different Chinese class for lessons instead of staying with their own classmates who are doing chinese?

according to my DS, the class will be seperated during 2nd language.
they will see the standard of a child and determine where they go. i guess the teachers are then able to focus on their needs. those kids who are poorer in chinese will need more coaching, such as my DS, his chinese is poor. he told me in his class, there are different races, malay (many Malay take up chinese as 2nd language now), korean..etc.
but bcos of this, he always scored the top in class  \"best among the worst 😂
i am actually fine with this, it boost up his confidence actually and he felt that he can do better. He went to a better class when he was in P2.
language is something that is very hard to master in a short time (unlike Math and Science).
he was lucky bcos his chinese teacher is a snr CL2 teacher whom had taught me when i was in NA.. that was more than 20yrs ago. she is a very patient and kind teacher. DS improve under her wings.
i find that through reading, speaking and listening is the fastest way to improve.

                Hi cholecube

                THANK U.
By the way, for Maths Quiz. I understand they will not inform us the date so well prepare them in advance. But I think there is nothing serious about this quiz. The aim of this quiz is to let the children know the common questions that might appear in the exams. Dont worry!

😓 no wonder no one in his class knows the date and the letter given out didnt state the date as well...
anyway, i just asked DS this morning again abt the Math Quiz, he told me its over, they were tested on Monday :skeptical:
luckily i have been preparing with him over the last 2 weeks.

i am not really worried for this Quiz, but i want him to be prepared for the real exam. DS is always very complacent and take things lightly :slapshead: must push him a little all the time. wonder when can he 开窍

my DD will also be in P1 next yr. 😄
if i am not wrong, they will send out a letter on the dates for buying of books and uniforms.
i think nearer to the date (Nov), we can call the school to check.
