i received a letter from MT teacher ytd saying that DD will be going to 1 Unity for chinese lesson, strange thing is only 3 of them will be going. what about the rest of the chinese? and how do they select the students for different classes since it is only the 3rd day of school?her MT teacher is 翁老师

Hi your DD must be Chloe Chong! I also got the letter from 翁老师 about the 3 kids from 1 Love going to 1 Unity for MT lessons. I was also wondering why such an arrangement. I was wondering whether the 1 Love class have more Chinese kids so spread out to a class with less Chinese kids? (although during orientation I don't recall seeing Malay or Indian kids in 1 Unity...) 翁老师 is 1 Unity's form teacher too. So far so good, they should be in good hands. I'm actually glad the MT teacher is the form teacher - more chance for DS to converse in Chinese.

BTW, my DS wrote in diary that the timetable only given out next week. Strange that other classes already got it...well we just need to wait for everything to settle down...

DD got her timetable on the first day, it was inserted in the diary. you may like to ask the teacher if you still do not have it by friday

翁老师 taught my DS (who is in P4) now last yr for chinese
met her during parent meeting session last yr
so far she is ok, but a bit long-winded

Hi mummies, my DD is in 1 Kindness. Today, the children were dismissed at 12.45pm. I did not recall DD telling me abt the early dismissal, did any of your

kids mentioned it?

I remember when they give me a date to come down to buy books and register, they had this room where the children have to go in and meet ‘i dont know who’. Parents were not allowed.

I did ask my girl and she said that they asked to read some words and asked some questions. Is that how they determine which class they go to hence the seperate classes for chinese.

My girl is from P1 Love but did not attend school as she is sick so i am not sure if there are any letter.

Porkypig, I know Friday dismissal time is 1.15pm, not sure y end up as 12.45pm.. And I didn't know about till till I read the forum.. my son best!! Everyday I ask him what u do in school, he say dunno.. Got homework? Also no.. But when check his bag, he already completed them.. He must be sleeping in school..

Hi just to share, my son could only tell me after some probing - think they had maths lessons - teacher ask some kids to spell one to ten on the board, did some pages in workbook.


Chinese - teacher taught Hanyu Pinyin and some pages in textbook.

English - not sure but seems like teacher chat with the kids - talking about developing countries got no fresh water…

And lots of other admin stuff - telling them about thermometer use, dismissal time, what books to bring each day since my DS class got no timetable for this week.

Thats all I gather about what happen in school this week. Also no homework for this week.

Musings.. I thought wed got math homework, thu and fri got writing hw.. He wrote that in the hw diary.. Ooopss.. Don't tell me ds dreaming in class that's y class work became hw..

Hi Mrs Kiasu, I only know about the writing stuff but no idea about the maths. Nvm, observe more and see how. Me also dunno about the early dismissal until now. thought this should be stuff that should be communicated to parents isn’t it?
