I have also received the letter. I did not know that they already started streaming in P1.
-
Dd got the letter too. But I do not know what it meant by ‘core’. Haven’t got chance to see the MT teacher
-
The school explain the grouping for mandarin during orientation. They will assess the child’s oral communication skills in first term to see if they will be grouped ‘core’ or ‘basic’ - i cant remember the exact terms.
In the chinese textbook, there is a ‘basic’ section, ‘core’ section and ‘enrichment’ section. For the group who needs more help with communication ie the ‘basic’ group, they will cover the ‘basic’ section before going to the ‘core’ section.
I dont think there is anything to be concerned about - the grouping is just to identify kids who are not exposed to Mandarin at home and to give them closer attention. -
Hi Musing,
now that you've mentioned, i recalled the school did mention abt MT evaluation for P1, but i cant remember the exact details.
thks for reminding

Hi have some question on the P1 Holistic Assessment
It was mentioned that for the Maths assessment, heuristics like ‘Guess and Check’ and ‘Logical Thinking’ will be tested. The issue is are the kids even taught these heuristics? My DS hasn’t heard of it and I haven’t seen anything like it in their worksheets. -

sorry for late reply
i saw some of such questions in DD's worksheets.
such as:
there are 9 cows and birds in a farm, there are total of 26 legs. how many many cows are there?
i suppose they will be tested on such questions during the test. -
Does anyone here knows if i can get the uniform (bottom) from other places besides the school uniform supplier?
I almost vomited blood when talking to her. -
Hi Myeo
I think it is a bit difficult cos now the girl’s skort n the boy’s are a bit different from outside supplier. What’s wrong with the supplier? How about the supplier in the school? -

I was actually referring to the supplier in school. If that is the case, i will have no choice but to get the form teacher to help.Hi Myeo

The supplier says that all her stocks are in school and she 'bo chap'ly told me to get my dd to buy herself when i already explained that i dont think my P1 girl is capable to try and see if the size is suitable.
The existing uniform is too tight for her. She has been putting on weight.
