Please do ask the teachers. I have not seen the booklist yet as I am not yet home. However there were differences in last year’s booklist.

Higher Chinese is only introduced at P5 and not any earlier. The option to take Higher Chinese, if your child is eligible to, will be given out at the end of P4.

If there are better classes, then are there not so good classes? My daughter tells me the A class is the worst? Can any mummies shed light on this matter? She’s assigned to that class btw sweat

I cannot confirm if A is the "worst" but from what his friends told my boy, it seems like few of his classmates not scoring very well all goes to A class and those few are the more playful ones.

Anyway, I find being "labelled" as no good class or worst class is quite sad for the children.

Yah sad to say the kids label themselves this way and their confidence level plummet even b4 they enter the class. Hope the teacher in charge is able to do some damage control.

Fairfield as a school tries very hard to downplay these differences and the teachers are generally nurturing.

Thanks doodbug, my husband and I are trying our best to explain to her that her grades are not a measure of her worth as a person but I think it's hard at their impressionable age where peers count a lot. But yah, I agree their teachers are quite nurturing and patient so that's reassuring 🙂

Please do not be discouraged. There are very bright kids in A class for for a variety of reasons, their overall percentile was pulled down by various factors. (For example I know a Caucasian kid who was obviously pulled down by Chinese.) Also, I am not completely sure about the classes for 2015 P3s and do not know whether A class is a weak class. The class allocation policies do change. Was your daughter struggling in P2?

Yes, her languages are fine but she struggled mainly in her maths. Her grasp of concepts is very weak.
