Yea. i guess it is because of the number of students there.

I called up Pro-teach. The registration will be done via Wellington Pri School around Oct and the supply will be based on demand. Last year they have taken up 2 classes of P1 students.
If there is no other choices (since Evangel has no more vacancy for next year P1 student), i will have to put my son in Pro-teach...
oh dear... 2 classes of P1 seems alot...for me i definately have to put my son in pro-teach as no other alternative care but its worrying that the so call teachers are unable to handle so many kids at one go...

        Hi mummies,

My girl will be going to Wellington next year, I m so happy to find this thread!
Mai seek advice from u? I gave helper at home but I m not sure if I should let my girl stay at the student care-pro teacher.
Will the teacher there guide them to do homework? Have nap time of time or not? Thanks !
pro-teach only make sure they do home work, and test them on their weekly spellings.
But will not guide as per instructed by the school. Wellington prefers the parents and pro-teach don't correct the student mistake as this will hinder the teacher from actually knowing which student is weak. actually this makes my job easier ๐Ÿ˜„

and frankly student care teachers.. maybe lower primary they can. but upper primary many the student care teachers they also don't know. They only person that still can handle is the centre manager.

          Thanks pattyfong for ur info.

It sounds worrying if proper discipline is not in place.

Btw any mummies here can share the amount of homework for p1 students?
I heard that Canberra primary school has remedial classes if students have difficulties in certain subjects.
Does Wellington have these classes or programs? Thanks in advance .
weaker student will have remedial classes even in P1. weak in English will also take different English classes which actually help a lot.

enquire from school office and not pro-teach.

Is this really the case? Because the logic seems flawed. If the student can correct his mistake, does it matter who helped in the correction?

The worry point is that, many will correct the mistake without actually knowing the student understand where is mistake comes from.
It works well so far for my 2 kids. and much easier for the parents anyway.

and if thinking from the point of view of the teacher, if all the student hands in a perfect homework all the times, I would presume all my student have good understanding of the lesson taught and the principal will have the same presumption. but when test comes, student starts failing then everyone will be wondering why.

Next my experience is that student care \"teachers\" many cannot teach. or they don't know how to teach. Last time, when student care teachers do check homework many answer is wrong also.

                    Hi Norbu,

i called the school office, the lady told me to call pro-teach after 2.30pm. i had left 2 messages at pro-teach but no one call me back. How am i going to register my child for next year? the least they can do is let me know a date to register so i dont have to keep calling...

                        Hi Norbu,

thanks. the school office said i can register my child during their admin day which is next week.

But do you know does the student care registration based on first come first serve?

Because their admin day has 2 days & i can only go on the 2nd day so if i submit my form for my child on 2nd day, will he have lesser chance to get in the student care?
