I called the school last week and was told that there won’t be any open house.

My child is in P1 fernvale primary. Also enrolled in the school based proteach student care. Been a smooth journey for us so far and of cos for him 🙂 he enjoys school though at times whine, wanting to stay at home to play, rather than student care. Thank the man upstairs that he had bond well with friends and teachers.

The school based student care helps in preparing them for the weekly spelling and mini tests and also provides enrichment payable at $60 for half a year (if I recall right) Proteach offers a mobile app that greatly enhance communications with parents, from early pick up to signing of forms. Teachers there are also very prompt in their response.

                Hope this offers some insights.

You are welcome. Maths and English so far. Worksheets are given and scored. They are later returned to parents to see the progess.

FVPS has a FB page set up since the start of the year. You can also see the activities there. :imcool:

Just my final thoughts…seeing the keen competition for vacancies in fernvale area. Paying it forward here …I’ve got sound advice from a parent here when I was registering my child for P1 last year…while we like many other parents too shortlisted SKGP…we eventually chose fernvale primary…a decision we are glad we made…our child enjoys school and had settled it real well. He has close friends, learnt to feedback to us what happened in school and student care. Teachers are responsive. Students there are well behave from my observation. He is also adapting very well to the curriculum. What more can we ask for?

I understand from other threads that, there seems to be some bad reviews on fernvale primary. I have heard some of these reviews as well prior to registration. In all fairness, such incidents are not just isolated to fernvale primary. It happened in many other schools as well. On its lesser appeal to SKGP (I’m certain SKGP definitely has its merits as well) my humble views are it’s right down to the demographics and the school’s more central location within the fernvale area. While everyone has their own definition of what a good school entails, and check boxes on going about their selection, I urged parents to stop putting down a school because of whatever rumours or incidents they hear about. There are bound to have students who are less behaved, and they usually make up the minority. The majority are our little ones enjoying their primary school phase.

Parents here being less vocal or active in this thread similarly doesn’t mean fernvale primary is lesser in appeal or overwhelmed with problematic students. At the end of the day, whether your child does well in school all boils down to us and the schools’ effort, complementing one another.

Pardon my long post, I hope I put this to rest and help parents make a more informed decision in selecting the primary school for their beloved child. Choose a school based on your own unique set of criteria and not seemingly by following what the crowd says. With that, I wish all parents a successful one in phase 2CS.

                        Cheers
