oh so P1 and P2 no tests and exams except SA2 in p2? then that is good at least not so stressful.

Correction, no exam but got tests, and a lot of it...it's called bite-size tests where students will be tested after every few topics. Each term minimum 2 EL, 2 CL and 2MA tests. Besides tests, there are lots of worksheets also. Every term every week you should expect some assessments. Besides these, there are also show & tell (both CL & EL), CL/EL listening compre, MA performance tasks, reading aloud & writing rubrics assessments. It's a nightmare for parents once a new term starts..sigh.

For mathematics in P1, I heard that only addition and subtraction will be taught, no multiplication, right? However, there is a simple introduction of multiplication in her P1 preparatory class. If there is a need, must also brush up on her multiplication.

You need to fill up the application form and wait for them to contact you for an interview. If you pass the interview, you will be selected as PV. Also, higher chances for those staying within 1KM.. if you are not, quite difficult..

One gd thing abt Nan Chiau PV is that they allow you to come on Sat.. I understand some schools only ask you to come in during weekdays, so you need to take leave..

            Good luck

If I still rem correctly, there is a section in the form that ask you what can you contribute to the school. You can stress that again to the person-in-charge if you are selected for interview.

You cannot imagine the tasks that I put down..haha.. like giving free computer lesson, cooking lesson etc.. :rotflmao:

Only P2 results (overall score + mathematics results) will be used for P3 class allocation.

P1 Maths covers more than just plus/minus. Multiplication, division, graphs, money, time etc are also covered and assessed. You can easily checkup the P1 maths syllabus online or in any assessment book. Usually the problem sums are the killer for most students if they can't grasp the concepts and the weightage is high. For P1, the MA test is usually 20 marks and there are usually 2 problem sums, each carries 4 marks, that's 40% of the test.

wow that is a nightmare already even before my girl starts P1. To think i have been complaining why my girl childcare is teaching multiplication and division. Initially when i read your first line no exam i was thinking wah very good leh and then when i read further, i find it is so scary. i find crazy to teach all these when this is learnt in P2 in other schools

I think this applies to all P1 in all schools as the syllabus is from MOE and all assessment books for P1 covers these topics. So it's quite common. For P2, they will go deeper into these same topics. In fact, when my son was in K2, I followed the P1 syllabus to teach him and let him work on all P1 topics so he has an easier time in P1.
