Hi, the school will be using higher chinese textbook for p1 and p2. Actually i am not sure of the difference between normal and higher chinese textbook in p1 and 2 since my children have been using higher chinese textbooks.Dear Parents,
My gal will be attending primary 1 in Nan Chaiu next year, 2016. I would like to check out more details on their curriculum:
1. Is the school teaching higher chinese for primary 1?
2. Do the school teach accordingly to their text books (issued by MOE) or they have their own set of internal textbooks?
3. Is there any thread that I can know more about the curriculum for primary 1 in Nan Chiau?
I know I am KS, but can't help worrying..
thanks in advance
As for textbooks you can buy from off the shelf from popular if u do not want to get them from the pacific or school bookshops. But different schools have different textbooks so if u want to get the pass down books so check out if they are using the same books
U can check out the curriculum at the school website but do prepare for at least 2 to 3 bite size tests for each subject per term.so that means about 8 to 10 tests for the 4 terms for p1.so before each term is over ,the schedule for the tests for the following term will be out. Can be quite tiring for parents cos need to revise with them constantly -

NC is using HCL textbook for P1 to P4, but for P1 & 2, no difference in tests/exam for all 10 classes. From P3 to P4 (10 classes reduce to 8), the textbook same for all classes, except for top 3 classes, they will take an additional HCL paper (harder but shorter, include a compo in different format) in addition to the 4 subjs. HCL paper's results are graded as Distinction (80 & above), Merit and Pass, equivalent to 3, 2 & 1 point in PSLE. For P5 to P6, then there will be separate textbooks for HCL classes (think only 3 classes) and normal Chinese classes. In terms of exam papers, these HCL classes basically has an additional day for the HCL papers.Dear Parents,

Do note that HCL at p3 onwards are conducted after school hours from 2pm to 3pm per lesson per week. Normal chinese lessons during school hours

Dear larkspur & Tim Tim,
thanks for yr reply… -
HI all, I am thinking of enrolling my child into NC (due for P1 in 2017, registrating in 2016). Would like to check if there’s a after school care in the school and if it’s difiicult to enrol into the after school care? When can we start putting in our interest for a place for the after school care?
For parents who didnt manage to get your child a space in the after school care, what options have you taken? -
Anyone who has black school shoes whose kids have outgrown and dun mind to give away to my son who’s attending NCPS P1 in 2016? TIA.

There is a school care centre in school but vacancy is not many. Priority is given to P1 and low income families I understand previously. My son goes to Polaris Junior at Block 323B and they do mainly for NCPS, so that's the alternative you may consider. -

Do you have any feedback on their center? Can you also share how do your child go to the center from/ to school, as I am afraid that my child would lost his way? -

I wouldn't say they are very good but decent lah. Anyway, we have no other better alternatives if you don't get to go into the school one. Don't worry about going to and fro school as the centre's staff will fetch, even if there is extra classes in the afternoon. During sch holidays, it's case by case, if too few, may have to have your own arrangement as they are shorthanded due to all students present in the centre. -
Hi hi ! my Son is also starting P1 in nan chiau in Jan 2016 ,class 1G ! any classmates here?
