Hi, so are you a PV at NCPS? Can I know by when must register as PV for children born 2005? My neighbour wanted to apply so that she can register her son under Phase 2B. Need to go thru interviews?Welcome onboard penglee.

Mine is first child going to P1 @ NCPS too. His sister born in 2005 will be able to register under Phase 2A I guess. We went through the balloting, that's why can understand the stress. So would really suggust those who really wanted their kids to go to NCPS to do PV.
Thanks!! -
Hello sysherlene,
For your neighbour’s case, the kid will start P1 at 2013.
The ‘qualifiying’ period for PV to complete the 40 hours is one year before 2013 (P1 year). This mean that your neighbour will have to complete the 40 hours between Jul 2011 to Jun 2012.
She can collect the PV form from NC from 2010 onwards and submit the form before 2011. What NC will do is that they will call up all applicants and interview over the phone on their PV commitments before Jul 2011. What they can do (contributions) as a PV to the school. The reply will then be submitted to NC principal for approval. Once approved, the PV will start in Jul 2011 and 40 hours will have to be completed before Jun 2012.
I can only provide this much of information as my submission for PV was not approved and I got in as I was a SHHK member years ago.
My intention as a PV at that time was to volunteer myself so that I can get to know the school before registering my son, but was rejected even I told them that I have weekends and during school holidays to offer my services.
From various sources among friends, PV are usually granted to homemaker who have time available during school hours to help out in school. For us who hold full-time job is pretty difficult. Tasks are usually traffic warden, recess time crowd maintenance, when we are working at that time. -
MeiZi, thanks alot for your reply.
My neighbour is a full time mom at home since she had her first kid (she just had her third 2 mths ago  ). After she heard my freaking experience on P1 registration and balloting, she considering all options to avoid registration under Phase 2C. I guess she might stand a good chance in getting approval as PV.
Out of curiosity, I called up NCPS to enquire just now. The lady on the phone told me the PV application for kids born in 2005 starts next month!
Wow... I guess I can only have myself to blame for going through the stress of balloting at Phase 2C becos I really din do enough \"homework\" on this!! It's really thank god that my son is lucky enough to secure a place in NCPS.
Thanks again!! -
Hello sysherlene,
Yes you are right. The stress of ballots. My colleague (who couldn’t find time to do PV for a neighbourhood school of her choice) was balloted out TWICE at P2C and P2CS so I can understand the agony. You are so lucky.
If your neighbour is under 2km from NC, I would say that PV with them will sure get a place

Hi, any idea how much cash to bring on orientation day? Dunno if they accept cheques for payment of uniforms and books or not. Think will bring at least $400 cash in case they dun accept nets or cheques. There are no ATMs around the school.

I was thinking to bring that amount too. Probably about $500.
Btw, how come our orientation is on a weekday ya? Noticed all my friend's ones are on Saturdays ... -
Hmm, no idea on why our orientation day is on a weekday. Could be becos the vendors dun want to work on weekends ? :? But I really dun mind .. haha... though it's accounts closing day
... But school holidays have started by then, so think at least will be less \"choatic\" for the school to handle...
Some suggusted bring trolley along on that day too, as will have to make alot of purchases, especially the books will be heavy .... haha... so I considering to bring my luggage bag .. abit too over hor ? Hahaha...
