HI.. can check if any of you paid for the Lorna Winston course with one cheque or 2? Don't understand why have to make 2 separate payments. So troublesome. Worried that I forgot to pay for the 21 Feb payment.

      Don't worry, they won't let u 4get 1.

Worse, we will b paying in cash, as no longer using cheque bk. Just wrote to principal to get him arrange collection first thing during assembly instead of during English lesson. DS just lost his wallet ytd. 😢

Also registered our displeasure & told him to exercise greater restraint in making such expensive course compulsory in the future.

This year's course jolly well b better, given the amt we are paying.

Ya, it better be good. It's quite expensive considered the group being so large, not sure how much exposure/attention each student will get. I have communicated to my som's form teacher my concerns too on the effectiveness of such a programme in school context. They are well aware of problems/feedback from parents in past programme.
hi parents,

any one of your child updated you on the change to the school elearning portal? my kid came back and told me that there is a new interface (which the teacher showed them in class). But when we tried to log in, we can't go in.

i just called the asknlearn technical support and apparently there is now a new portal to log in.

wonder if the school will give further instructions coz i didn't dare to go in as they prompted to change password before proceeding further.

Mine the same problems, could not change the password too. :? I called 64897905 and the technical side staff helped me to solve my problems and now I'm able to login as usual.

He was very efficient and friendly. 😄

hmm...did they re-direct you to the new portal i.e lms.asknlearn.com or its the old url that they helped you resolve?
Last time I remembered is something orange-bown in color website, the new one is more to blue in color . I just sign under Nan Chiau Primary Website,

choose under student LMS enter, come to this website, just under your child NRIC Number and password also under your child NRIC Number too.

I hv given DS a chq tt combined both payment instd n told him to pass to form teacher today.

I agreed with all of you on effectiveness versus cost on this compulsory course. I m baffled as to what the teachers are supposed to do when our kids attend this enrichment in their normal classes.

Nowadays everything also out-sourced. Thought this should be considered CCA and conducted outside of school hours. Else what do the teachers do in that time? Shake legs....?

I was surprised that it will no longer b done during Wed's assembly like last yr but during normal lesson time. Class size is confirmed 30 as per usual. The sch teachers will b w the class to guide & follow-up after that. When I commented on the fact that after paying $154k to the vendor, the sch teachers still need to \"help out\", she muttered that they will try to work out a lower fee w the vendor.
So let's hope for some reduction/elimination in Feb's fee. 🙏

Btw, for parents paying cash, the kid can drop the $ in sealed envelope at the general office upon reaching sch. Just write the name & class & state that it's for English Speech & Drama.

NCPS must have already signed contract with LW before school starts and collection of fees. Thanks for the info.

During enrichments conducted by external vendors, teachers are also expected to be physically in the classroom to supervise/monitor the students.

So, please don’t say that the teachers ‘shake legs’. Many of them would rather have the lesson to complete their lessons with the kids too.

If there’s good control and the trainers are good, a class of 30 can still become a very very fruitful lesson. It all depends on how the trainer manages the class. So far I’ve seen external vendors who can push the kids better than the school teachers as they are not bogged down by other demands. They simply come in and teach!

Also, I think it’s a little too exp but LW really hires quality teachers. So I’m not surprised they’ll charge a ‘premium’ for it. But schools should make it optional. Students who don’t want to join will just go to another classroom to do their work. Or arrange for it to be after school.

Parents should write in/email in to the P to voice out. Honestly, not every family can afford this type of money.

For such enrichment classes, communications from school is vital else will invite many questions and queries and parents may confuse over whether compulsory or not. In the letter, it says \"urge you to support our programme\", nowhere did it mention \"compulsory\". In any case, if school really pays $154K, it works out to be $256 per students (P1+P2 = 600 students). If some do not participate, will the fee adjusted upwards? We shall see.

I heard one parent told me that teacher said for those students who are not in the programme, they will just sit by the side and \"watch\". If true, that's really inconsiderate on school's part. It's during curriculum time, so those who never participate should not waste their time either, they need to be compensated.

I will watch the programme closely and assess its effectiveness. We should feedback if need be.
