Hi, mummies n daddies with higher primary kids,

Like to find out for p3 students taking higher Chinese, are the students required to stay back after school to attend the lessons ? If so, how many times a week ?
How did the school allocate the students to the Pri 3 classes ? Is 3A the best class or randomly distributed . My girl told me the 3rd position boy is allocated to 3B while the another girl whose result not better than the boy go to 3A 🤷
Once a week - it was every Thursday afternoon for my girl in P3A this year. As far as we know, P3A is the best class this year. Random distribution from C onwards, so I heard.

          Hi reddiechan,

Thks a lot for the information.
          Bbroaster,
Is your child in p2 this year ?
The mean score for Chinese in the whole cohort is 84 whereas my girl 's class is 86 .So likely those offered to take higher Chinese will likely have to score 90 and above.
This year the SA2 paper is easy .My girl scored full mark for it .

This year the school provide mean score of the class n the whole cohort for each subject. I think this is the direction of MOE. This will help us to gauge our child performance within the whole cohort . Not sure do the school do it from p2 onwards in the past or only started this year . Actually should also provide median in addition to mean score which is more reflective of the score that the majority of the students are scoring. Mean score can be afftected by the extreme low n high mark of the students . But I supposed the mean score is still reflective of the performance of the students in general .

Reddiechan or parents from p3 onwards ,
Can share the mean score of the cohort for each subject if u remember.
Which is the toughest subject to score ? Science.? Can share your experience
          Thanks a lot .

From 2013 , the school will not show the class n level position of the student but merely the mean score of the class n cohort . This is stated in the report book - to align with moe 's direction to move toward student centric n value driven education .

So , only the top 3 position is known , the rest will not be known .

              Mean score [Level]: E 72, C 71, M 68, S 75
              Mean score [3A]: E 86, C 85, M 92, S 94

It was revealed in the Letter to Parents Aug2012 that the class allocation for P2 to P3 is based on Eng + Maths combined. Further banding based on Chinese (they'll move around during Chinese lessons).

DD is leaving Yangzheng soon. Great school with great values. We will miss these fabulous 3 years.

Yes. Still pretty hung up on the excitement. Posting results will only be known after 25 Nov, so don’t know yet. I hope she gets her choice.

                        Hi reddiechan

Like to find out for kids taking higher Chinese , are they required to buy another higher Chinese text book . Looking at the book list , seems that only need to buy the normal Chinese text book.
Ya, u are right ,3A n 3B classes are the better classes. There are difference in the books used for English n math for 3A n 3B classes compared to the rest of the classes. Yangzheng has its own math supplementary booklets catered for 2 groups -3A n 3B and the rest of the classes. 3A n 3B classes are also using on sponge book .

By the way , are u also attending the prize giving ceremony today ?
