      Hi fellow YZ parents!

My DS is P1 this year. 1st-timer, so I’m still blur. I saw his time-table. There are a few slots for P1PAL classes - what lesson is this?

      Thanks.

very happy to see more P1 parents sharing on this forum.. welcome!!

Finally made it to week 2... and finally found the timetable stuck to end section of the YZPS handbook.. :slapshead:

        if it helps:
        - Not sure what's P1PAL too.. asked my DS, as usual dunno...
        - Attire - from school's letter I deciphered
Weds - must wear PE attire, Friday - must wear house t-shirt.
days where timetable says PE - then must wear PE attire
(so if PE is on fri - so still must wear pe attire) ..
rest of the days - shirt uniform

ds still trying to adj to primary school life, and he seems to be adjusting well to Archers student care.
missing his kindergarten buddies dearly and outdoor playtime... he said he likes the school, classmates and teachers are nice... but didn't enjoy the orientation program....seems like they didn't get to interact with their classmates much ... ds says he doesn't get much chance to talk to his classmates (or ds is shy) and recess time I don't think they arranged for the class to be seated together... so will have to take sometime to warm up and find new buddies...

keen to let him try out CCAs to make frens.. we received the letter for soccer try outs and Chinese calligraphy to decide by next week if we want to join.. but at the same time he also likes wushu and would like to encourage him to join scouts...but have been warned before not to sign up for too many CCA commitments as it may prove to be tiring for the kids... I wonder if anyone has feedback on their YZPS child's experience with soccer/wushu/Chinese calligraphy/scouts to share on this aspect .. if it's good to join in the CCA at p1 stage or wait

did any of the p1 parents received any email or contact from their form teachers? .. not sure how much direct engagement the teachers at YZPS usually do.. or it's no news is good news kind of expectation.
my fren's dd from another school, her form teacher wrote to parents to provide email contact in case of query and also shared some personal observations and notes on their child... and how is the progress etc ... and also class blogs for parents to find out what goes on in school...

            Hi mummies,

PAL refer to programme for active learning and it expose the kids to two areas — Sports and Outdoor Education, and Performing and Visual Arts. You may refer to the this link from MOE

            J's mom,
Same as you my boy oso everything dunno but when I prompt further he starts to remember everything!! I did not receive any updates from his form teacher too but I saw in his diary his form teacher email address.

I have signed my boy up for the Chinese calligraphy and was told they only take in 24 students. So better sign up fast if you keen and it's a one year program.

Overall my boy enjoyed himself in school. So happy for him!!

In terms of contact with teachers, i think it’s dependent on the teacher. DD’s form teacher for P1/2 was quite responsive last time when we needed to contact her. As teachers are usually not at the desk, it’s quite difficult to get them by the school phone no. I do not expect them to give me their personal handphone no. so email is the ‘expectation’. She would normally reply 1-2 working days later, probably because P1/2 was in afternoon session and teachers would leave soon after school was dismissed.

P3 form teacher was also very fast in replying. There were a couple of instances when i had some queries about the answers, and he was very prompt in replying and forthcoming too.

DS’s form teacher in P1/2 on the other hand was not so much into replying email. We were concerned about whether the mails reached her, but heard through DS that she got the messages, despite us not always receiving a response.

Couldn’t find any teacher’s contact email in ds YZPS handbook, tried sending an email to ds form teacher from address listed on YZPS website but bounced back with error.

already left message with school’s admin for form teacher to return my call…

                Shall be patient then…

yeh! the teachers called back and managed to speak with the form teacher and co-form teacher…

apparently, email address on the website not complete… thus work for some and will get error message for non-delivery if it’s wrong…
heads-up folks : if email don’t work, have to call and leave message for call back.

I refer to the 1st letter to parents and certainly commend the school’s effort in their economy drive and efforts to go green. However, child’s teacher is now asking for parents to print out Annex B of the letter even for those who have NO allergy to fruits as a declaration. Shouldn’t this apply only to children who are allergic to fruits? Isn’t it a redundancy to print out a form just to show a tick in the NO Allergy box? Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of going green by putting it on parents expense? I’m sure the declaration of NO allergy can be simply added into the online acknowledgement form if not obtain hard copy only from those with allergies. My child is worried about being discriminated against as he tried to explain to teacher about my unwillingness to printout. I hope the school can truly be green and economical by managing such correspondence in a better way.

Hi, mummies. I am working in serangoon central. My company is looking for an admin person. Preferably living nearby Serangoon area. We are looking for SAHM who has some time to spare during the day while the kids are at school and is able to help with some admin work like data-entry, prepare standard documents, filing etc for a few hours everyday. Flexi hours - so I thought will be good for some SAHM who are looking for earning some spare cash and spend some hours at a work office. Anyone keen, please pm me. Package negotiable.
