yeh! the teachers called back and managed to speak with the form teacher and co-form teacher…
apparently, email address on the website not complete… thus work for some and will get error message for non-delivery if it’s wrong…
heads-up folks : if email don’t work, have to call and leave message for call back.

RE: Yangzheng Primary
Couldn’t find any teacher’s contact email in ds YZPS handbook, tried sending an email to ds form teacher from address listed on YZPS website but bounced back with error.
already left message with school’s admin for form teacher to return my call…
Shall be patient then… -
RE: Yangzheng Primary
very happy to see more P1 parents sharing on this forum.. welcome!!
Finally made it to week 2... and finally found the timetable stuck to end section of the YZPS handbook.. :slapshead:
if it helps:
- Not sure what's P1PAL too.. asked my DS, as usual dunno...
- Attire - from school's letter I deciphered
Weds - must wear PE attire, Friday - must wear house t-shirt.
days where timetable says PE - then must wear PE attire
(so if PE is on fri - so still must wear pe attire) ..
rest of the days - shirt uniform
ds still trying to adj to primary school life, and he seems to be adjusting well to Archers student care.
missing his kindergarten buddies dearly and outdoor playtime... he said he likes the school, classmates and teachers are nice... but didn't enjoy the orientation program....seems like they didn't get to interact with their classmates much ... ds says he doesn't get much chance to talk to his classmates (or ds is shy) and recess time I don't think they arranged for the class to be seated together... so will have to take sometime to warm up and find new buddies...
keen to let him try out CCAs to make frens.. we received the letter for soccer try outs and Chinese calligraphy to decide by next week if we want to join.. but at the same time he also likes wushu and would like to encourage him to join scouts...but have been warned before not to sign up for too many CCA commitments as it may prove to be tiring for the kids... I wonder if anyone has feedback on their YZPS child's experience with soccer/wushu/Chinese calligraphy/scouts to share on this aspect .. if it's good to join in the CCA at p1 stage or wait
did any of the p1 parents received any email or contact from their form teachers? .. not sure how much direct engagement the teachers at YZPS usually do.. or it's no news is good news kind of expectation.
my fren's dd from another school, her form teacher wrote to parents to provide email contact in case of query and also shared some personal observations and notes on their child... and how is the progress etc ... and also class blogs for parents to find out what goes on in school... -
RE: Yangzheng Primary
Hi
Any parents from 1A reading this thread?
DS came home today with 2 words written on his communication handbook , only "time table" and couldn’t tell anymore info cos teacher said a lot but he couldn’t understand/ remember … No accompanying letter from school with instructions on what to bring for this week, unlike day 1 there was at least a letter from school in bag about program attire and what to bring from day 2 and day 3.
So checking if anyone has info? -

J's mom: has the school organised the P1 orientation already? I remember there used to be a list of items to be brought in succession each day of the first week. No, don't have to lug everything on the first day. P1's get it really quite good at YZ - very good guidance. At least my DD's P1 form teacher (Mrs Yeo Kim Eng) was very organised - caring and nurturing, not to say the least.
That's good to hear, P1 orientation for 2014 cohort is this Friday 8th Nov, probably they'll give out more information then. Hope DS gets a good form teacher

Hi J's mom: I like Archer's. The owner used to work at Cambridge Child Development Centre at AMK Ave 1 when I put my boy there very long ago. She was one of the more popular and lively teachers there. She started the student care later on, and I believe it should have been more than 6 years already. Met her fetching her P1 charges under Archer's care personally at Yangzheng some time ago. Besides this, she sees to additional enrichment and academic exercises for the children at the centre too. I would believe it'll be a sound choice.
Heard they had a change in owners about 1-2 years ago, if I am not wrong the centre is currently run by the teacher running the Chinese tuition program \"郭老师\", so far have only met with the centre manager , a lady called : Magdalene (if I remember correctly). -
RE: Yangzheng Primary
Thanks for the well wishes, visited most of the centers around yangzheng, mostly very academic or big student - teacher ratio. Whilst I prefer if they offer some interesting enrichments to balance out their time. going to take a look at the newly opened one at serangoon gardens this week, otherwise will opt for archers at serangoon central. Anyone has any experience with archers to share?
Could only take leave on weds to get the uniform, seeing the comments posted above , mentally prepared for disappointment, long wait and chaos.
FYI, checked with the Shirley season wear uniform supplier before she said they stopped supplying for yangzheng 2-3 yrs back, just that the school did not update their list posted on the web. ??
How about the school books side, read the books will be given out by teachers when sch starts … I wonder if they are allowed to keep the books in school bringing back only what they need or we have to lug all home on day 1? -
RE: Yangzheng Primary
Hi,
My boy is going to start P1 (class 1a) at YangZheng in 2014. Mixture of excitement and anxiety.
Still hunting around for good studentcare centres to place him, prefer a homely environment with good mix of academic and non academic activities vs. tuition centre setup. Such centers are hard to come by and really limited choices in serangoon area. School bus vendor also only plys within 1-2 km of the school… Does anyone have any recommendations to share?
