My daughter also told me there were 3 english words she duno during orientation and 1 chinese question not sure. -
Hi Dark Chocolate,
My DS is in courage. Maybe we can exchange our phone number.

seriously, i hope my kid will not be too overly stressed up.
and if there is really extra english prog, then i wonder if sch bus can cater for tat timing???
i think pcs should at least inform the parents in advance…
btw, anyone noes wat to pack for 1st day of school? -
Nice to know all the new parents here! Would be good if we can keep the thread going to share experiences and questions/answers/information in the various P1 classes so that we won't be lost when school starts and our kids can't tell us much about what's going on.
Hi Carebear77
Great to find a fellow parent in 1C! Will PM you my mobile number!

I tried to post a response yesterday but there were some network issue. My post got wiped out and I had no time to re-type. In the handout given during orientation, i think it was indicated where to attach the name tags on.
Wanted to ask if the name tags are to be ironed on or sewn on coz i heard during orientation that they are to be sewn on but you all mentioned ironed on in the threads. I have not taken a closer look at the name tags yet, will need to take it out soon to attach to the uniforms and to wash. Anyone attaching name tags to PE attires as well? Was told its optional ..
I think the handout also indicated things to bring on 1st day of school. -
Hi Dark Chocolate,
I suggest you sew on the shirt intead of iron on as it is more secure. Does your kid go for any enrichment lesson? -
The glue is not strong enuf to survive washings. I ironed on the tags then sew them too.

oh... as we went to the orientation earlier on the 15th instead of the 19th (out of town), thus we didn't receive any handout:S Are you able to share with me what to bring for 1st day?
Thanks alot. -
Name tags - Thks, didn’t think about ironed on tags will drop off easily after repeated washing. Better sew on then!
Carebear77 - Did you receive my PM already? DS has EL creative writing (a follow on from previous phonics class), art class and swim class. He just finished his CL enrichment class yesterday, we are not continuing with the school coz the class timings for next year are not suitable. Going for a trial at another CL school in Jan before deciding if want to sign up. I may also consider to teach him on my own instead as I do not wish to pack him with additional classes as much as possible. How about your DS, is he taking any enrichment classes?
Cpdalin - The orientation handouts are at home. I will bring to office tomorrow and scan to send to you. Can you PM me your email address to send to you?
Btw, anyone signed up to volunteer during P1 recess on 1st week of school? I just received a call from PCS to assemble at meeting room at 2pm on 4 Jan for briefing. Just realized this school has no buddy system with older students for the new P1 students. -

Thanks, I have PM you my email address.
No buddy system:S I really hope my gal can manage as she is very petite:( -
Hi parents,
I went through that same excitement (and fear) two years back. And it is good that parents keep each other in the loop which I am seeing it here.
The assessment during orientation is only the starting point. Kids have to continue with the routine effort - chinese was tough in my opinion in my DD’s first two years (she is getting into P3 next year). And now I am hearing new English programs on top of Stella. WOW!
