[quote="angel64"]It is common these days, parents are spending more for those ergonomic bags, like SPI, Deuter etc. Each cost more than $100 SGD.

I got mine when I was in HK, Dr Kong, equally good at a cheaper price.

Bag is heavy, as they have math / chinese /English file. In fact the 3 subjects are taught everyday, certain days, they are expected to bring art and craft stuff, Social studies book, etc.

Shoes I got those normal ones, but no need to use those white paint … I find it hassle. 2 pairs as the white shoes can turn into black shoes just in days, so alternate days, I change them and wash.

Now 4th term, we have to prepare them for the SA test … hectic esp I am a FTWM, reach home almost 8 ++ and I still have to teach him. I am like half dead … really not easy. Now I understand why some mothers quit their job. But at this junction, where dual income is needed to sustain a family. I choose to keep my job. So that we can plan for some extra enrichment classes, yr end holiday etc.

While I still have a job, I will work for it, till I have a golden hand shake, maybe time to slow down.[/quote

      Hi Angel64,

thanks for the valuable info, I saw the Dr kong bag at Kiddy palace (Nex shopping) price is also abt 100+ so if the price is abt the same as SPI / Impact. what would be the recommendation?

Indeed it definitely tough to survive with one income with so much to be taken care nowadays. Let hope our children will leave better than us.

Can I check whether do the P1 need to take up CCA, and if does normally it is on which day?

        Hi all,

Good news for parents of P1, 2012! Received reply from VP that they
will do away with the assessment on orientation day for this year, due to feedback from parents of P1, 2011.

Children will be randomly assigned to different classes and they will only conduct a test around 1 mth after schoool reopens in 2012 to identify weaker students for supplementary lessons.

        Regards 🙂

          wowowo! that’s really good news!!!

No test assessment on the orientation day for this year. Such of amazed!!!
2012 primary 1 such of lucky!!!

Poor kids which been went through all kind of test assesment in such of young age @ K2.

I remembered my boy faced this @ last 2 year.
What a nervous and seemed parents have nothg can help. Oops! this is my thinking only. As I did not prepare my boy in Chinese. Esp, I knew pupils in PCS have to know 2000 to 3000 words. As I do not what will be test. So I just keep my fingers cross. And parents encouragement is very important. So that’s, all I prepare for my boy. And now, he is in Pri.2. Time really past very fast.

However, it is really vvvvv tough for the (lower primary) kids to know thousand words:(…

                    Hi,

Many of the p1 (2012) parents have received letter on orientation and book list. As there will be no assessment on orientation day, classes have already been allocated and based on the birth month of the child, eg those who were born in jan are in 1C.

Remember to bring ask your child to bring the items for classroom activities on orientation day, as mentioned in a small slip of paper tt came together with the letter. 🙂

See you guys during orientation day on 18th Nov!

Hi All 2012 enrolment parents !!

This batch u are so lucky !! Last yr, I remembered, i was so nervous for my boy… after that assessment, he refused to tell me anything. I did not know what was happening. Cold Sweat…

But again I still feel the school’s mother tongue standard is high. The Yun Yu is really killing for a kid to pick up thousand of characters. But again set it high, suffer at the start but the fruit will come later. I think there are some advantages in the long run.

Importantly, be consistent. First 6 months, I think it is the adaptation period. Your kid will come back blur blur, ask them any homework, always nothing… then I get big page of remarks on his comm book, 9 pages homework undone. It is normal and not uncommon esp for boys.

Good to exchange with some other parents numbers ( same class ) so as to keep track what is happening in the class.

Good Luck to all 2012 parents. I will be there 18th Nov to get all my DS stuff before we go for our holiday break. Kids will enjoy themselves as they will make new friends, in a bigger compound to run about… they will sure enjoy school.
