Welcome to the Poi Ching group amylqf! Can you tell us if Poi Ching has CA1 or CA2 for Primary 1?Thank you, Chief.

Yes, they do have Common test 1 and common test 2.
Well, when everybody was busy doing their mid year exam in May, poi ching only have a small test which doesnโt count the score into the overall performance.
Then, last week, just 2 weeks after the school open since school holiday, they have a their common test 1. The at the end of the year, will have their common test 2.
here is the weightage:
English
--------
common test 1 :30%
show and tell: 10%
common test 2: 60%
grand total: 100%
math:
-------
test 1: 30%
task: 10%
test 2: 60% -

:!: That's doesn't sound like the normal practice of most schools. Doesn't that means the kids will have to study during the June holidays?
I'm not sure what common tests are, but in general schools have:
CA = Continual Assessments (normally end of Terms 1 and 3)
SA = Semestral Assessments (normally end of Terms 2 and 4)
where the SAs have the heavy weightage. -
yes, it is indeed different from other schools. Maybe teacher want the parents to find out the childrenโs weakest point and did enough revision during june holiday before giving the test? when other people was busy preparing CA1, we are like happy happy, no stress. When other people relax during school holiday, we were like reviewing the past topic.
I remembered the principle said that school do not have CA, only on going small test.
I assume the two major test fall into SA1 and SA2.
Another thing different is
For chinese subject, poi ching is not using higher chinese textbook. they import chinese program from China. -

Hmm... this is getting more and more interesting. I must say Poi Ching's Principal is pretty courageous to plot and navigate different paths from other schools. Are you saying Poi Ching P1 students don't use the recommended Higher Chinese text from MOE? -
