      parent.parent:

I saw a $4 we need to pay for a 1 week recess scheme. Anyone knows what is this?

*If I'm correct, the $4 is for their recess which school will prepare the food for them during the first few days*

      Hi parent parent

Is your child going to P1 next year too? 🙂

I guessed so about the school buying food for the P1s but strange that its $4 for 5 days? Wondering if $4 is enough?

$4 is for 4 days as school starts 4th Jan 2011(tues), so its $1 per day for 4 days.

Didnt hear anything about PCS handbook during orientation, what does this book contain?

Are you getting your child to handwrite name/class or printing labels? I printed labels but without class, now maybe going to print another set of labels for class.

P1 class allocation finally out, DS got into 1 Courage! Anyone else has her child in the same class?
        Hi dark chocolate,
During orientation, one teacher told us that there will be a handbook, but its not ready, thus will be mailed to us. Handbook will tell us rules as well as where they expect the name tag to be iron on.

I be printing her name without class tho, as the labels are alot, thus can be used longer:P

my gal got into 1 excellence:) anyone else in the same class?

          Hi

I am also in the same class 1E. So DS will be in same class. Heard CDE is the best class.

This year they access the literacy in English and Chinese.

I am sure this is definitely not an accurate way to access the children and moreover they still so young.

I strongly believe there are also some bright sparks in those FGH IJK classes.

Yes, CDE is the best class. This year, the class allocation is based on English test result only bec the sch intend to pilot a new English program in class CDE, on top of Stellar. So, those better in English ones are gathered together. The sch will tell us the parents more abt this new English prog when the sch opens. I also don't know what is the prog name. So, let us all wait lor.
Why I know abt this bec I visited the principal. My triplets are in E (nice to meet u here, cpdalin and angel64), H, H. So, we went to ask him. Actually we wanted DSs to be in same class but my identical twins English r not good enough to cope with additional prog. Then we don't want DS1 to be deprived of the new prog. So, no choice, I will have to expect diff sets of sch work, and managed more teachers bec no 2 classes have the same teacher. Each teacher will take a class of P1 and a P2 so that the same teacher will follow the students for 2 years.
Also, the sch will change the staring time from 12.30pm to 12noon so as to have an extra 5 lessons per week. But the 1st day will remain at 12.30pm and they will inform all parents abt the change to be implemented on 2nd day onwards.
Btw, I have not bought all the books and stationary yet. Will get them on 27 Dec. Mine! Nowadays edu need so much prep work including labelling books with nice typed label! My mind is still in simple handwritten names done by the children themselves. Hmm, then why we train our children so hard to write their own names during pre-school. And also, iron name tag on uniform! Wonder how to do this bec never done it b4. Yet to finish buying uniform as well bec no size on orientation day. I havent buy the school bags yet. May I know what kind of bag you all get for your darlings? Must the bag be big enough to put in
A4 size? My poor DSs, they each wiegh less than 18kg. Wonder how heavy will the bag be even tho some books are kept by the teacher. If too heavy, then I must trained to be a body builder to lug 3 bags. But mummy here also underweight.

I ALSO CALLED TO PRICIPAL . ACCORDING TO HIM, THIS YEAR TEST CAN’T REALLY TELL THE BEST STUDENTS. ALL ARE ABOUT THE SAME MARKS. FOR THOSE SCORE MORE THAN 90 (ENGLISH) ARE EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED AMONG FIRST FIVE CLASSES ( C TO G).

DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE GIVING DIFERENT INFORMATION TO DIFFERENT PARENTS.

He may be right? He told me that the top 90 students in English are equally distributed in CDE, the next 90 students in FGH and the last 90 in IJK. So maybe the top 91 to 150 still score very very well? Which class is yours in?
Did u ask him abt the Chinese test results? I asked him bec he told me my DSs English mark (to convince me that my triplets shouldnt be in same class) but unable to tell me the Chinese ones. He added that usually the top 90 will be good in Chinese as well (err, but my DS1 chinese so-so only lei) and the overall progress of most class lessons in these 3 classes will be faster - this sounds scary to me tho.

Glad to know all fellow PC kids’ parents.

Especially those in 1E, I still think peers are very important. I think it is good to get to know our children’s peers. As we know, when they are naughty or mis behaving in school, he will not come home and said he misbehaved in class. All we can do is to tap info from other kids.

Just like that day, after the orientation test, my DS refused to say a thing on it. He came back and said, he got 3 zeros for 3 words he can’t read. Ask him to spell out the word, he just said don’t know. Likewise this will applies to the behaviour in class.

Good that we have some parents support here and there. When we meet in school, we can exchange HP numbers. Looking forward to you all on the first day.

So fast they are going to Pri 1 … Time really flies

Hi, angel64. Had pm u my hp as I don't know where parents suppose to be on 1st day and whether I 'follow' 1E or 1H.
Btw, haha, I can't fish anything out from my DSs on what they do in pre-school too. Their std answer is don't know or can't remember.

Noted: I will check out my mail.

So our kids these days are smart. They will shut off in telling us what they do in school. So likewise I will expect the same thing once he is in PC.

I am letting him enjoying himself, play, tv, outdoor, etc as I know once term begins, his honeymoon is over. All the way, study till he goes to NS for a 2 yrs break before he heads to the U. That is the ideal case. But will see what his interest. We can't insist them to do in our way any more. It does not work now.

We will keep in touch .. curious to know your triplet ?? It is conceived naturally ?? or through assisted ? So expense sure sky high .. me 2 boys, already draining us, financially and mentally.

For us, we think 2 is ideal, easy to travel. No need to upgrade our saloon car to MPV. But again, it is fun to watch them grow up ..
