Hi,
I would like to know whether there are a lot of homeworks, mini tests, etc for P1?
quite a lot of homework, esp chinese. my girl is in P1 now, she had 2 chinese 识字 test every week, cuz they learn 2 chapters every week. after every 5 chapters there will be a chinese spelling test. and english spelling once a week. although all these mini tests are not weighted, still you had to prepare your kids for that.
i normally leave my girl to finish her homework every night, which took her about half to 1 hour every night. then i need to spend another half hour at least to prepare her for the mini tests. those weighted tests are on going, every term had about 2-4 weighted test for each subject, such as pick and tell, chinese reading, test, mock test, etc.
if you compare with other schools, definitely life in poi ching is not easy, not only for kids, esp for parents!
I only agree wif u in d 生子关 part.. yes is quite tedious bt I find is good as it set a v strong foundation for chn.
abt d rest of d HW, mini test n spellings.. I find is a norm for most sch.. ..Personally I find is not alot as compare to other schs..I am cimparing wif NB sch such as horizon pri n pasir ris pri...
In fact I find d sch syallbus is way too slow..
Hi my boy is gg primary 1 next year, other than Chinese, what other subjects must I prepare him...
Do your kid go for extra tuition ? -

My girl did not go for any tuition, besides I CAN READ which she finished 3 months before P1, so that she is able to read. Her childcare center had equipped her well enough to transit into P1. Both Math and English she can cope well on her own. Only Chinese I need to go through spelling with her. Now I don’t plan to send her for any tuition classes, rather let her enjoy her childhood since Poi Ching’s homework already looked more than enough to me.

Hi,
Thank you for the information.
I would also like to find out whether there is any student care inside the school. If yes, it is operationed by which student care centre? And whether anyone know is it possible for school bus to pick up student after student care closed for the day? -
Hi all,
I downloaded the parent volunteer form and had it filled out. Probably a silly question to ask, how do I go about submitting the form to the school? Do I post it in or hand it in person? :thankyou: -
