Need urgently advise. I can apply either cedar primary or xinghua primary and i an confuse which will be a better choice for my son ? Kindly advise
Some considerations you will need to take in order to choose a right primary school would be

: Your child's interests (Each school has its own programmes and co-curricular activities. You should consider your child’s interests in sports, arts or music and pick a suitable school that will develop their strengths.) - In terms of that, I would say most 6 year old children will not have a clear sense of what their interest lies in, so choose a school with more choices, which is Cedar Primary School.

: Travel time and distance to school (Selecting a school near your home saves you time and travel costs. A shorter commute lets your child rest better and have more time and energy to focus on other interests.) - So, do choose a school that is nearer to your house

: School culture (Visit the school’s open house to get a sense of the school’s culture and learning environment. You can also talk to the current students, teachers and principal to learn more about the school.) - Choose a school with an environment that your son will find enjoying.

: Academic ranking ( I know that this is not really a factor some parents will take into consideration when choosing a primary school) - In terms of academic excellence, Xinghua Primary school ranks higher.

      I hope this helps!😜

          Hi parents,

I am thinking to enrol my SG50 son at Farrer Park Pri or Cedar Pri. Have check recent years on subscription, my son most likely will be in phase 2c registration in 2021 to start 2022 P1.
From the research it seems easier commuting to farrer park pri than cedar. But i prefer the CCA offers in cedar. Read some post about school bus brought kids to school 1 hour earlier. Was thinking to commute there with my son on public transport but the stop are just available outside the main road. Any parent could gives some advise on how they drop off their kids?

parents can walk with their kids till the gate along cedar ave, can’t go in anymore unless u drive and drop off at the shelter

depending on where u live, both schools quite a challenge to go especially when it rains

              phtthp:

Is there Red Cross cca, at Cedar primary ?

              Which week-day & time ?

No, there isn't any red cross in Cedar primary. There isn't any uniform groups in Cedar.

Since the thread's more or less dead now, I thought since I've graduated from Cedar recently, I could share what I know with any parents who wants to know about the school through this thread. To be fair, I wasn't the talented ones so I can't really share any personal experience about Cedar's talent management model, though I do have two close friends who were involved (two of the girls whose pictures are put up on the website)

thanks for the insights - great post.

                  Hi Parents,

May I know if Cedar Primary has good school support for children with mild autism? Is the school culture acceptive of children with special needs?

Are the principal, teachers and allied educators supportive?

Will appreciate if you can share any experience you have with me or PM me.

                  Thank you.

I'm more than 2km to Cedar. Any advice what chances if I go for Phase2CS? My boy is enrolling for 2020 intake. Not sure about the balloting history... Cedar seems to be good. Any parents can share about the student care facilities and the school environment? If it is easily accessible?

                    Thanks.
Cedar should have plenty of seats left for 2CS. Hence, it should be quite safe for SC, regardless of the distance.

Understood that cedar is not under S.A.P . May I know cedar P1 include the higher Chinese or normal Chinese only?

                      Kindly advice. Thanks.
