The prizes are for best in standard or best in class?
Is it for this year? I always thought the speech and prize giving day was to give out prizes for previous year? -

One of you attend will be enough. However, if both of you can attend together, it will be good. Can split the tasks. Need to line up for bus, fill in forms, buy books, uniform etc... -

Hi Bigfoot,
We wanted to sign him up for holiday classes as well but still undecided what to sign him up. The main reason for signing him up is to give more time to DW and myself. Think we deserve a break as well.vicki:
Heehee... I signed ds for Tien Hsia holiday class for p2. He gave me 'the look'!! :siao:
Is the holiday class conducted by Tien Hsia good? Has your son attended their holiday class before?
I'm sending my boy to their holiday workshop n also holiday enrichment.
For the workshop, he asked to attend after going for it during previous holidays. Thk he finds it fun whilst I find it cheap (abt $320 for 5 days n it's 9 to 5 --> all expenses inclusive) n a place for him to be in Chinese environment. So instead of staying at home n watching tv, might as well go out n play n be in cl environment!
For the enrichment class, it's mummy's idea. Basically they teach the 1st 5 lessons of the p2 textbook. I tot no harm to learn early!!
Still looking for a holiday English enrichment to send him! Can't really find a suitable one at the moment!
If you are sending your boy to Tien Hsia holiday classes, do tell me... Maybe our boys might attend together! Ds gets real excited whenever he sees another schoolmate for the holiday workshop!

Hi Vicki
Which branch of Tien Hsia is this? That 5-day camp seems interesting. My ds is currently in Berries though. Dunno if Berries has such a camp. -

I thk they hve it at all the branches.. But I went with the orchard branch. There's 2 workshops this year. I sent him for workshop A cos one of the day activity inlcudes 'making sushi at Sakae Sushi', n he's like Wow!! I can go Sakae n make sushi?? Yeah!!'
Thk they really know how to get the kids interested!!

Not sure. Just my guess. I don't think they expect us to change the name tag every year just to change the color right? This is unnecessary spending. Furthermore, next year P1 is not green. So there is no linking of color to the level. Hence, my conclusion.
Yeah, make sense. Phew! I'm more worried about the name-tags becoz must order in advance. Willwait for the school then, I'm sure they will give us a list for P2 sooner or timer, maybe wait until the last day then give out?cherrygal:
No, I didnt see any ranking earlier this year so I think probably it's the same \"system\" across all catholic schools. From my convent days, I recalled seeing the ranking in my report book in P1 and P2, after that didnt see any liao. I don't believe in ranking too, it's the marks that is more important. My cousin freaked out as his boy was ranked like amongst the bottom 10 but he scored above 90s for 2 subjects and the last one, can't remember was it in the 70s or 80s. For me, that would have been good enough.btw are MS boys ranked in the report cards? I remember my old convent did away with rankings to remove the stress.

My son is invited to attend the prize giving ceremony on 18 Nov. Does anyone know how they go about selecting the boys to attend? He definitely is not a recipient. Maths results - disastrous. He said no one in 1E is a prize winner so I am wondering are they inviting the bottom 5 in class to attend so as to spur them on.
You made me laugh...
18 Nov is also Orientation Day for next year's P1. Looks like the school would be buzzing that Saturday.
My son asked me why he has to have a name tag. I told him it's so the teachers can identify the naughty boys. Honestly though I am not sure. Anybody? -
r we allowed to brg other kids includg gals along to p1 orientatn? i gonna b maidless frm nx sat
