Yes, mine too. FT has stressed to us that it's not possible to check everyday, FT will write inside when he/she has something to tell you, for communication from you to FT, your boy has to show it to her.

BTW, checking if anyone here has ADHD boys attending Maris Stella?
My son is borderline case and I receive complaints from teachers almost everyday. Would appreciate if anyone can share helpful tips how to better manage disruptive behaviour in school.
My boy has a classmate with proven ADHD (doc letter etc). If your boy is a confirmed case, get the doc letter then hold a meeting with the class teachers. They gave that boy special permission to walk round the class and won't punish him unnecessarily etc. The teachers will also explain to the classmates why the boy is allowed to do certain disruptive behaviour so that the rest don't scream unfair treatment.

        BTW, mum2jj,

Are you absolutely sure your boy has ADHD? If you dun mind, can you share an example of what the teachers complained about? Many boys are plain restless and very active but if he can sit down during class time and not be a pain generally, don’t get him labelled for nothing. You can ask the teachers if they think he is ADHD/ADD. Many of them will know the difference.

Visit the "All about ADHD" thread in the health section.

Thanks! No, he’s not - still waiting assessment report. He can sit at his desk but he will just draw on any paper be it textbook, spelling list, worksheets and even test papers. When everyone else is doing worksheets, he would be drawing. When the teacher is teaching, he would be drawing. He has taken and destroyed other’s property, ignored teacher’s instructions and fidgets continously during assembly.

He’s the same at home, at school, at shopping malls and in sunday school.

It's a good idea to get him diagnosed so that if it is confirmed, special arrangement/consideration can be given within the school. For example, when it come to changing classes, assigning FT, etc. Each case is different and need to be handle differently. Basically, when it comes to ADHD, there is no one size fit all kind of arrangement. Also, not all teachers are well-equipped in handling kids with ADHD. Even among those who are supposed to know, some are better than others.

Like what Cherrygal mentioned, you may want to consider making a trip to the school to meet up with all his subject teachers and sort of brief them. The school counsellor should also be around because she will be the one handling your son's case and she will most likely be the one speaking to the class. But before you head down to the school, you need to look through the diagnostic report first and to highlight the key points (print the summarised version (1 page) for teachers if u can). I don't think it is a good idea to ask the teachers to read through the thick report as most of them would prefer to read the summary.

I'm a teacher and I have taught and AM teaching ADHD kids (coincidentally, there are many cases in GEP kids). Yes, I have attended many such briefing by parents (most recent one being 2 weeks ago). Most teachers would be more than happy to hear what you have to say and at the same time, share with you their concerns. So, don't feel \"paiseh\" for taking up the teachers' time. Most importantly, trust the school and teachers to take care of your son. 🙂

My boy told me before about the briefing and he also described to me that boy’s disruptive behaviour in class… we also found out more coz we feedback to the teacher that the boy was beating up the other boys in class. We were asked to be more patient with the boy.
