Today is award presentation day and once again my son is now a prize winner. I am so upset that I almost cried. I felt even worse when he happily told me he heard there is GEP exam in P3 and there will be a chance he can transfer to another school if he passes. I just looked at him, don’t know what to say.

There's is this Chinese saying 小时了了,大未必佳。So don't be discouraged by his results. Continue to encourage your DS. Praise him for what he achieved and not to scold him for what he failed to achieve at this point of his life. I feel that sometime as parents (myself included) we put too high expectation on our kids. Education is a lifelong process. Instilling in him the love for learning is more important at this time.
Anyway enjoy the holiday with him and family.

At work, we shortlist scholars based on consistency in results from primary to college, and eventually scholars can get promotion and ranked as top performers even when they are not at work (on study leave), appointment holders get more medical benefits than rank and file staff, privileges in being able to claim for things that policy dictate are not claimable, etc. That is when we realised how important results are.

Hi Namie
Dont be disheartened. In lower primary it's more impt to build up foundation first. Build a solid foundation, cultivate a love for learning, and one day the results will materialise

Namie, don’t be upset. We need to adjust our expectations sometimes… and early bloomers may not necessarily mean they will do well at the PSLE or in life.
My hubby’s fren’s son was a late bloomer at P5 (also Maris) and is now a brain surgeon.
Anyway, what’s so nice about the civil service unless the kid can be a minister? I want my kid to be a businessman coz that’s where the money is. hehehe
There are many roads that lead to Rome. -
Hi parents, is p1 orientation on 16 Nov. I have not received any notification on that.
-
Yes. It’s today. The appointment time is stated in one of the letters/forms sent to us after Registration.
My son’s class 1F is at 2pm today. -
Hi all… my son is going to p1 next yr!
-
I dunno if this question was asked before but how much pocket money do you give a p1 student? My cousin gave $1.50 but I realise some food in school cost $2 for a plate!!
