> http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-schools-ranked-academic-excellence for some comparison.
This is a comparsion table of the \"number\" of TOP students (T-score > 275) produce by some schools. This is just 1 of many ways to compare schools. This is not a \"more general\" comparsion. For example: School A has 5 students score more than 275 and the rest of the students' average is 220 School B has 2 students score than 275 and the rest of the students' average is 235. Which school is better? I would say School B. But using the methodology of the table, it will show that School A is better.
It really depends on what the parents are looking for. A better average and passing % or number of TOP students each year? -
Merlion:
How many schools in Singapore can say that they have 82 students enter the GEP second round last year? That means about 22% - 25% ( 1 out of 4 ) of their students are among the top 10% in the nation.
Hiya Merlion
That's interesting. Can you share how you obtain this information? Was your child formerly from MS and in GEP now, perhaps
?
-
I guess it depends on what parents want. find out more about the 2 schs 1st.after all, even if u dun get a seat at Nan Chiau, you still have MS guaranteed.:)
-
The information is not a secret. If your kid is in MSHS, just ask the VP or teachers and I am sure they will tell you the number. :celebrate:

I had a choice of MS or St Hilda’s for P1 registration last yr. Both phase 2A. in the end I chose St Hilda’s due to distance. MS had been my preferred choice cos of the chinese immersion. but distance was a issue. Hope my choice was right.

Sometimes I feel like Maris Stella is way too \"under rated\". It is one of the best primary schools in Singapore. How many schools in Singapore can say that they have 82 students enter the GEP second round last year? That means about 22% - 25% ( 1 out of 4 ) of their students are among the top 10% in the nation.
Just curious to know, how many students eventually got into GEP last yr? TIA. -
A total of 12 got into the GEP last year. The year before was about 15.
-
Thanks Merlion for the assurance!! I know where to go now

hmm, a fren's bro who is an old boy of MS (qualified for 2A) is sending the son to Pei Hwa Presbyterian,, cos he said MS standard dropped.
-
It is not very nice for an old boy to say that. But it really depends on what standard he is referring to? PSLE result? GEP selection test result? TOP PSLE student's score? Year in year out, MSHS PSLE passing % is 100%. Their GEP selection test result is better than some of the 9 schools that offer GEP. We can not blame them for TOP PSLE student's score as a lot of their top students are transferred to GEP schools after P3.
At least in term of PSLE and GEP selection result, I do not see any drop in standard.
Different people can have different views and I totally respect that. But it would be nicer to say \"Pei Hwa Presbyterian standard improved\" rather than \"MS standard dropped\". Agree? :celebrate:
