Hi,michyms, I supposed it has to be plain black. That was what I used to wear. Also remembered wearing black track shoes, and even pumps (shiny/matt). Anything goes, as long as it's black.
Not certain what now... Guess we'll find out more on 19 Nov
Any black shoes will do. Just make sure they're comfortable as the gals will wear them for PE as well. For P1s, it's advisable to buy velcro shoes if the gals do not know how to ties their own laces yet. The gals will be expected to remove/wear their shoes for PE for some activities.

Thanks so much for sharing the info with us, Can'tbearit. Good to hear that the school will be undergoing upgrading soon :rahrah: Is your dd in the student care? I wonder if this upgrading will also take place the same time as the NS Highway construction?Hi parents,
great 2c tis thread being kept alive by next batch (2012) of P1 parents.
FYI, we have juz rec'd a letter to inform us of the sch upgrading. It's no rumour now. MCS is due for upgrading from Nov 2012 to Dec 2014. :rahrah: No holding sch is required as MCS is expanding e plot of land which is currently in use by the student care ctr. E student care ctr will thus shift to e sch premises (even nearer than now, )
MCS will allocate a proper place for e student care ctr aft e upgrading.
Juz thot all new parents might b interested to noe.

There are a few shoe shops in Toa Payoh Central that sells black velcro shoes. You'll usually find them with the white sch shoes. Cost about $12-$14 depending on brand. Though they're slightly heavier than the ones in Bata.
Royal Sporting House also sells black Reebok velcro shoes but they are more expensive there. Last year, closer to sch re-opening, they had some sale and DD1 got a pair for about $30.
Remember to label your DD's shoes. Once all 30 gals remove their shoes, they can't identify their black shoes anymore
