Hello Mummy meow & gorilla & michyms , glad to meet all of you here…
Hi michyms , I actually eyeing for Catholic high (because it’s within 1km) but i was told it’s very hard to get in and they don’t really need PV…anyone knows about this? -

Niccc, one of my dd's classmate's father did PV at cat high and balloted within 1km to get him in. So they do accept pv. But competition is intense and balloting within 1km at phase 2b and 2c is guaranteed. Last year, there were 60 people balloting for 9 seats at phase 2b. This year is better as the number of available seats went up to 20plus. So even if u do pv it's not guaranteed, so must think of a back up plan.Hello Mummy meow & gorilla & michyms , glad to meet all of you here..

I had another friend who went for the cat high PV talk and she told me that
a the school encourages parents to do projects for the school for pv such as repairing parts of the school etc, and according to her this means having to
spend money! So really depends on whether you're willing to do so. Think
you should call the school up and go for the pv talk to find out more.
How old is our ds now? When is going into p1? -

My daughter told me they have to wear socks with their sch logo. Sometimes, spotchecks will be conducted and my daughter told me one of her classmates was reminded to put on MCS socks. However, I do see a few handful of students wearing normal wear sock when I go fetch her.
My daughter will insist wearing ONLY MCS socks as she is very afraid of getting \"yellow letter\" from the teacher.( is like a \"warning letter\" and my daughter kana once before for her slightly long fringe.)

You can either buy your own white socks or socks with the sch logo.gorilla:

If buying your own white socks, ensure they are not ankle socks. Must be 5cm above ankles.
Socks with sch logo can only be bought at the uniform shop at Toa Payoh when you buy ur sch uniform later. These socks are thicker and longer than the usual ones. Both my DDs don't wear MCS socks as they find them too warm. -

Hi Tinkerbelle
Thanks. A welcome much appreciated. Kinda gladly assured that current MCS parents are forthcoming and giving advice to us newbies on what to expect. -

yes, u can chk out e link below.cantbearit2, thanks for the update. Phew, no need to move.
Would like to find out more about the student care. Is there a website? Did u send your daughter from P1?

DH & I find tat a student care nex 2 e sch seems 2b e most feasible. Irregardless of any b4 sch activity, she juz needs 2 walk 2 & fro. Even wen she's in morn session in future, she juz needs 2 walk back 2 e student care ctr aft her aftn CCA or remedial/enrichment lessons.
She's been there for 7 mths (since beginning of P1). E place is a bit run down but it will b resolved once e upgrading begins. :boogie:
Teachers have been helpful so far. As for supervision of homework, we can't expect much as she's in e aftn session. We will always ensure she finishes her homework in e evening wen she's back fr sch. So nex morn wen she's in e student care, e teachers will mainly guide her to do add'l assessm bks (which is left there; no need to bring home).
Our concern is more on setting a routine for her so tat she doesn't laze ard either b4 or aft sch (depends on morn or aftn session). At home, granny will surely let her watch TV whole day long. So we figure out it's better for her to go to a student care ctr. -
