Oh, it slipped my mind on the textbooks. Haha, thanks for reminding me I can save some bucks this year. I remembered spending $400++ on getting my dd1 school stuffs!
Hello mommies, I'm an AC-sian. So, ACS (Primary) and ACS (Barker) are affiliated to ACS (Barker) and ACS (Independent) only accepts those with t-score above their high COP. I think last year's was 250. Of course, both are affiliated to ACJC. ACS (Primary) to me is more disciplined and hence more academic while Barker is traditionally more boisterous so more 'naughty' and not as good in their MT. Hope this helps to clear the air...somewhat.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess my friend was from ACS Independent, which explained why he could not register his ds for ACS as an old boy.
Thanks for the info hoylj, this is really helpful.I've been asking around what's the different of ACS (Primary) & ACS (Baker) and the independent...kind of confusing.
michyms, yes, i'm methodist but stay > 2km from ACS primary..guess if i don't move to somewhere nearer, no way to get in that school liao :nailbite: -
RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, how about ACS (primiary)? is this good? i’m eyeing for that too becuase it’s a methodist school…

Niccc, I think by next year you'll need to starting doing PV as most schools require PV 2 years ahead of time. Wow only these 2 schools within 1km! How about look beyond 2km and maybe consider some others which are pretty good too like Kuo Chuan Presbytarian? At least after your do PV at KCPP, entry is guaranteed at phase 2B. Personally, I would be reluctant to do PV in a school where I'll need to ballot and if don't get in, all the PV effort will be down the drain. I know its a hard decision...
michyms, i too reluctant to do PV...actually wanted to registerred my DD to KCPP this year which is within 1-2km but was told will need to ballot so we decided to chose MSC since i believe this is good school too for my gal...now the headache is my DS...wow,need to start 2 yr ahead? so early eh!! I there are more school within 1-2 km like townville and Ang mo kio primary, KCPP..(can't remember the rest) but within 1 is only Ai Tong and Cath high which are super hot that sure need ballot...so sad right...i even considering moving hse now ...for my boy sake.. -

Niccc, one of my dd's classmate's father did PV at cat high and balloted within 1km to get him in. So they do accept pv. But competition is intense and balloting within 1km at phase 2b and 2c is guaranteed. Last year, there were 60 people balloting for 9 seats at phase 2b. This year is better as the number of available seats went up to 20plus. So even if u do pv it's not guaranteed, so must think of a back up plan.Niccc:
Hello Mummy meow & gorilla & michyms , glad to meet all of you here..
Hi michyms , I actually eyeing for Catholic high (because it's within 1km) but i was told it's very hard to get in and they don't really need PV...anyone knows about this?
I had another friend who went for the cat high PV talk and she told me that
a the school encourages parents to do projects for the school for pv such as repairing parts of the school etc, and according to her this means having to
spend money! So really depends on whether you're willing to do so. Think
you should call the school up and go for the pv talk to find out more.
How old is our ds now? When is going into p1?
Hi michyms, thanks for the info. My DS is born in 2008 so will be reg'd in 2014 for yr 2015. It's too early to ask for PV now right? I'm sure there'll be some changes in these few years...but have a feeling that it'll be more competiti  ve than now. I should look for backup plan but too bad my area only have 2 schools that's within 1 km, Ai Tong and Catholic High, both are \"hot\".
