Hi fmastuki,
Hi Tink.fmastuki:
Hi,
Finally, the gals got their report book today. Hope everyone is happy with their achievements. Well done! :boogie:
Heard from DDs about the change in the sch's streaming process next yr. Good news for the P1 this yr.....No streaming for them! :rahrah:
Just curious, are the P1 gals allocated to the same P2 classes next yr?
Yeah, I saw my girl's report card and I'm very proud of her.
Yeah, good that streaming only commences on P2. Gives them more room to work on their 3 core subjects.
My girl is going to the same class for P2. I'm not sure about the rest
Great to \"see\" you back here again after so long. Is your DD coping with her bus ride?
Congrats to your DD on her achievement. You ought to be proud of her. :rahrah:
Yes, I think it's great that the kids are not streamed in P1. Afterall, it's a year where there are so many adjustments to be made plus having to adapt to a new enviroment.
Good to hear that your DD is allocated to the same P2 class. Hope most of her friends are with her too.
Hi Tink.
Yeah, my girl's been doing well with the school bus and the uncle that drives her is a very nice man. I'm so thankful for that.
I'm not too sure about her friends though. I hope so too.
BTW, I just went online to pacific bookstores to see if I could order online but sadly, I couldn't find Marymount under their list. Perhaps they've yet to load it.
I'll try again on another day -
LLX04:
she did ok with less careless mistakes. i didn't get to see other papers like compo or listening compre. Yes, she is in 1-Rp now.
Hi LLX04,Tinkerbelle:
Yay, got the report book today and yes, no streaming for p1 this year. I think it was a last minute changed cos the teacher used ink to write over p2-h( computer typed) to p2-rp. The report was very detailed with all subjects taken and summary of overall p1 level results in breakdown of mean, min and max marks. It definetely gave a gauge on how well ur gal has done and what are the weaker subjects. I was surprised someone can score 100 marks on Tamil. In addition, the teacher also commented on personal holistic growth like integrity and etc. kudos to the teachers for their hardworks.
Counting down to holidays now where we can all sleep late...
I hope everyone is happy with their gals results.
Yes, I agree with you that the sch's report book is really in detail. With all the mean, min & max marks, we can see if our DDs are keeping up with the class or cohort average.
Congrats ....your DD must have done very well to be allocated to 2H before the change in streaming process was announced. 2H is the current top P2 class. :ugogirl: Is your DD in P1 rp?
Good luck to ur DD1, hope she gets in to her 1st choice Sec school.
Hi LLX04,
:thankyou:
Great to hear your DD did well. Parents will never get to see their kids' compo, listening compre and maths & science practical exams but some teachers will inform the students of their actual marks.
Think it's a great idea that the P1s get to stay back in the same class in P2 now. I'm sure the kids will enjoy seeing familiar faces when sch reopens. Enjoy your holidays.

phoenix:
Hi phoenix,Hi Tinkerbelle,
Do the report books state the ranking position of the children in the class and/or cohort? Are there any recognition or awards for children who top their class/cohorts, achieved biggest improvements and etc?
Thanks
MCS does not rank students in report books to avoid demoralising students who are not as academically inclined. However, the top two students in each class will be given award certificates & Popular gift vouchers. Some other awards include Top in subject (for upper pri), Greatest Improvement Award, Caring Award, Leadership Awards, CCA Awards etc
As a matter of fact, the sch's annual Prize-giving ceremony is on this Friday.
Congratulations to all awardees. :celebrate: -
cantbearit2:
Hi cantbearit2,Anyone receive nex yr's bk list yet??? :scratchhead:
Tinkerbelle, do we always get e bk list on e very last day of sch??? :nailbite: BTW, CCA's HOD email is not available on e website & Ms Irene Leong's email always get bounced. Not sure why?
Looks like I have to wait till nex yr then c how.
I've sent you a PM regarding the CCA HOD's email address & phone no. Do try to give her a call by Thursday or leave a message if she's not there. She'll return your call later.
Unfortunately, we always receive our booklist on the last day or the 2nd last day of sch. Last yr, the sch told the students that they couldn't get the booklist ready in time and was going to send it out to parents by post but luckily, in the end it was ready on the last day of sch. We should get the booklist tomorrow. :xedfingers: -
Hi funkymonkey,
Thanks for you well wishes. Don't worry, I'm sure your DS will be fine next yr. He sounds like a hard-working & self-motivated boy.
I'm just really happy for you to hear your DD's achievement has exceeded your expectations, given her condition. You must be so proud of her. Tell her to keep up her good work ya :rahrah: -
Hi,
Finally received the booklist today....
Just to share with P1 (2012) parents, there'll be no sale of textbooks on Orientation day.
If you don't receive your booklist on Saturday, don't fret....you can access it online on http://www.pacificbookstores.com from 24 Nov 2011 onwards. You can pre-order online and pick up at Marymount Sch at a later date or arrange for delivery (delivery charge of $7.80 applies).
Alternatively, there's walk-in sale of textbooks at MCS. This is staggered over different days for different levels.
For P1 textbooks....walk-in sale is on 28 Nov (Mon) from 9am - 3pm.
Or there's walk-in sale for all levels on:
6/12 (Tues)
7/12 (Wed)
14/11 (Fri)
15/12 (Tues)
16/12 ( Wed)
27/12 (Tues)
28/12 (Wed)
29/12 (Thurs)
The sch bookshop will not be open during the holidays, other than the above stated dates. Hope this helps.
