Marymount Convent

They do not have individual lockers but the majority of the textbooks, art stuff are kept in their respective classrooms. They would usually keep certain of their work books, work sheets, some exercise books, their snacks in their school bag etc…that said while it is less, i still feel that the bags are still heavy…

Hi mummies,
A couple of questions:
1. Does anyone know if parents can hang around in school during 1st 3 day when DD start P1? Or is it drop the kids and leave?
2. Is there a lot of homework for P1? -

Aren't you wasting your application?
With 11 vacancy and 29 registration as of yesterday, I would assume most, if not all, are < 1km.
Would suggest you contact the school to find out about the latest stats while you can. If you need to reapply elsewhere, you still have time. -
Lavendermum:
1. You can hang around shortly after you drop them off and again at their recess time. They will be in their classes at the other times so parents got nothing to do and you cant venture to the other parts of the school.Hi mummies,

Hi, for parents who have girls currently study in MC:
1. May I ask how does the school nurture children of different academic capabilities during the early primary (i.e. P1 - 3)
i.e. girls who are advanced or ahead of their peers in terms of academic knowledge and learning ability, easily bored by ‘easy’ subjects;
versus girls who are weak in certain subjects and need extra coaching so that they will build a strong foundation and not feel neglected.
I know the school does not have streaming yet during early primary, but will the teacher / school pay special attention to ensure girls of different capabilities are nurtured according to their learning needs?
2. How is the in-school student care centre? I spoke to the teacher there and was told that they offer lunch, tuition, and activities. How’s the quality of food, teaching, activities and staff? Will really appreciate if you could share your experience.
Thank you! -
Aurorasea:
For 1. i recall there was a briefing by the school at the start of this year to address this. I think in general, there will be assessment of each of the girls abilities and where required, they could also have additional classes or lessons to help to cope. The teachers are quite responsive and we are kept abreast of the class' progress in general on the subjects and where the areas of improvement are. In any class, there would be differences in learning abilities and even maturity of the girls but so far, have no complains. For chinese, the girls are assessed at the start of the year at P1 based on simple conversation and understanding and are then placed into respective classes which corroborates to their ability. However, depending on their ability, they can be moved into other classes later on.Hi, for parents who have girls currently study in MC:

For 2. For the student care, i think its ok. They go to student care immediately after school, have their lunch and shower (optional as there is no hot water) and then they have their revision, do their homework and have time for play later in the evening as well. For days which there is no school, the student care will open in the morning and will also be open during school holidays.
