Hi all
Lots of shopping to be done
michyms, u bought the Pentel Oil Pastels (49 colours)? Told my husband, it's so weird that it's in the compulsory section!
I bought 3 sets of pinafore and 3 PE tee so that I don't have to iron during the week
But no stock for the shorts and jacket. -
gorilla, its so weird that its in the compulsory section indeed! But I was worried that if I didn't get it, I would scramble to buy at the last minute and still have to pay $9.20! So thought I will grab it at $5 plus. If she doesn't use, I will let the kids use at home for colouring :boogie:
And then all my friends are telling me that chinese character cards are completely useless! One said her school said it was compulsory, so she bought and she didn't use it. Another said it was used once. So they are telling me not to buy till the teachers say its needed :scratchhead: -

Hi Funkymonkey,hi cantbearit!
how lovely!!!sleeping beauty!!!
my gal gets to spend her pocket money as a reward....
(and i top up a bit more )
as she wanted to buy more storybooks....we also signed up as a member at science centre!!!! so she's super duper happy!!!!(she's been wanting that!!!)and also i've got a place to go during the holidays besides the zoo and the playground downstairs!!!!
Cool that your DD is into science already. The water park beside the Science Centre is super fun too. Enjoy. :boogie: -
fmastuki:
Hi fmastuki,Hi Tink
Just ordered thee books online. I kinda ordered the assessment papers that they have as well. I thought it wouldn't hurt.
Got them to deliver to my place as I'd be too busy over the next couple of weeks to make arrangements to pick up the books. My girl is quite excited about it and so am I. Kinda looking forward to it. hee hee hee
Yeah...it's always exciting to get new textbooks for the following yr. DD2 gets real excited flipping thru all the new textbooks. The excitement dies down when she has to sit down and do real work.....haha. -
funkymonkey, I also applied for the Science Centre membership. Its worth it, as I got the one which allows me to watch unlimited IMAX movies... cheaper than regular movies for sure :rahrah:

phoenix:
Hi phoenix,Hi Tinkerbelle,
Re: the registration number, are you referring to the last 3 digits only (Eg ABC) or do that children have to write the entire 1/11/12/ABC?
Thanks.
Your DD's register no. is the number next to her name on the class list. It would also be the same number found on the corner of the desk you were sitting at to fill in forms in her classroom during orientation day. It only ranges from 1-30.

michyms:
Hi michyms, tinkerbelle, groups of 5 is nice, helps them to work in groups better. So the desks are facing each other?
pheonix, I think registration number only ranges from 1-30 for each class. I think you had to sit at the desk with your dd's registration number on orientation day to fill up forms.
Yes, the gals get to sit in groups, facing one another..... 2 gals sitting side by side, facing another 2 gals, with 1 gal at the end.
You are spot on with the register number.

Oil pastels are compulsory for art lessons but it's not compulsory to buy 49 colours. Though I must admit the gals do like to have lots of colours (of different shades) to choose from. -

Thanks michyms and Tinkerbelle. That's what I thought too but when I looked at the list of names pasted on the classroom door the other day, the Reg. No was that long series of numbers.
Under comments on the list, I saw some girls applied for Tamil and Japanese, didn't know these languages were offered by MOE for primary school. -

For the Chinese character cards, not all teachers use them in MCS so it really depends on who your DD's Chinese teacher is.
