Hullooo! We are so hugely relieved this morning after we decided and applied for MCS under 2C. Keeping our fingers tightly crossed. Thank youuu for all those sharings about the nurturing culture at MCS. A friend who works in Allied Health and closely with all Primary Sch Ps also shared that MCS P is a truly caring leader. Only thing is she may be, at the tail end of her time since she joined MCS in 2017. Anyone has any idea abt this?

So far, there is no news from the school on this yet. However it is normal for school leaders to be rotated to another role/school every few years to make way for successors / career progression. I chanced upon this webpage a few weeks ago and it seems that she has gone through 8 postings as a teacher/school leader before joining MCS:

Keep our fingers crossed that Mrs Lim would stay in MCS longer than her past postings. My daughter told me that her P1 friends would wave and greet Mrs Lim even when she is some distance away. This shows that the girls respect and like her very much. Even if she has to go, she has probably created a positive impact on the teachers and students. -
Impressive accolades & appears to be truly passionate about her job…Hope & pray for more educators like her. The girls are blessed to have her for last 4-5 years.

did you go ahead with MCS in the end? i’m staying in the same area and really like MCS but am worried about the distance (though i think it’s worth it but i don’t want to strain my girl too much).
Hi fellow parents
Great to read so many positive feedback about the school. I am planning to register my girl in 2C but we are >2km. Even though in the past years 2C seems to be pretty safe but the jubliee baby cohort is really too big . Look at the number of girls who applied for SNGS. I am keeping my fingers crossed that 2C won’t have to ballot because I am really taking a big chance on this .
The schools within 1km of my place are all competitive coz we stay in an area with many young couples . That’s why I decided to enrol my girl so far away in Marymount and also coz I read from this forum about how good the school is . Anyone also trying their luck in 2C and >2km?
Can I check how is the traffic condition in the morning ? I stay at Fernvale and thinking to ask my husband to drop her off so that she doesn’t have to wake too early for the school bus and then she can just take single trip back to Fernvale. Anyone staying at Sengkang/Fernvale and daughter takes school bus? I wonder how early the pickup will be and how late the drop off is . If my husband sends her I also worry the traffic jam situation will cause him to be late for work hah….
Trying to convince my husband to try for this school in 2C instead of trying for those other schools which we are within 1km. He feels it is a big risk due to this year big cohort .
Wish all of us registering for our kids this year good luck !! -

I am thinking, once the TEL starts operating (in less than a month’s time), the time taken isn’t really that bad by public transport despite the distance.

Bus 163 to Lentor Station.

Yesterday there was a terrible jam at the left filter /t-junction towards the school at about 1045-1115am. The construction workers were tasked to help to ease traffic but they directed the cars to move into the yellow box instead of keeping it vacant for turning vehicles! Ridiculous!

Maybe you should have shared a video with the school, they are quite prompt in providing feedback to LTA and for resolution. Don’t know why the construction workers have to direct traffic. Not their job and they are probably not aware what the yellow box is for. While the north south corridor works continue, the better route would probably be to enter and exit from Toa Payoh Rise.

All the schools in and around the NSC are affected by the roadworks from time to time - PHS in YCK, EJC in Bishan etc. I’ve gotten delayed a number of times on Marymount Road, especially at Marymount Road / Bishan St 22 junction.
