Phewwww avoided balloting for those '1st tier' & '2nd-tier' schs we considered...All have to ballot. Too many sheep kids
I’m curious, what are 1st and 2nd tier schools?

Don’t know why the construction workers have to direct traffic. Not their job and they are probably not aware what the yellow box is for. While the north south corridor works continue, the better route would probably be to enter and exit from Toa Payoh Rise.
Yesterday there was a terrible jam at the left filter /t-junction towards the school at about 1045-1115am. The construction workers were tasked to help to ease traffic but they directed the cars to move into the yellow box instead of keeping it vacant for turning vehicles! Ridiculous![/quote]

However it is normal for school leaders to be rotated to another role/school every few years to make way for successors / career progression. I chanced upon this webpage a few weeks ago and it seems that she has gone through 8 postings as a teacher/school leader before joining MCS:
Hullooo! We are so hugely relieved this morning after we decided and applied for MCS under 2C. Keeping our fingers tightly crossed. Thank youuu for all those sharings about the nurturing culture at MCS. A friend who works in Allied Health and closely with all Primary Sch Ps also shared that MCS P is a truly caring leader. Only thing is she may be, at the tail end of her time since she joined MCS in 2017. Anyone has any idea abt this?

My daughter just entered P1 this year. I would say MCS has a very good support system for parents and the newly enrolled girls. The processes were well-organized and communications by the teachers were mostly prompt. Through liaising with several teachers and administrators, I can sense that everyone is proud to be a part of the school. Even before the school term starts, a parent volunteer who has a daughter in the higher primary level, started a chat group and we found other parents with girls enrolling into the same class to join us. Because of that, all of us were clear what to expect and our girls were well-prepared and settled down within the first week of school. My daughter had a lot of fun learning and looks forward to school every day even though she has to wake up at 530am every day (we stay very far).
MCS has very interesting curriculum enrichment lessons like speech and drama for Chinese (which teaches more than just the usual textbook stuff during normal lesson time and my daughter learns more advanced words even though higher Chinese starts at P5) and OELE (read more about it on their website). This year for P1 Term 2 OELE classes, P1 girls can enrol for leadership, chocolate chip cupcake baking, lollipop crochet, learn to cycle classes (require additional reasonable fees). For other fabulous activities, check out here on their website: https://marymountconvent.moe.edu.sg/marymount-experience/signature-programmes
The school has other fun activities like Maths recess quiz and tinkering tasks (the first task my daughter got was to make a marble run project herself).
What I think really help us in terms of logistics is that those who signed up for school bus service, can enjoy to take the 430pm school bus for free. The 430pm school bus operates only on days when there are CCAs after school (not everyday). You can check out the bus routes on MCS website and contact the respective bus drivers to gauge what time they will reach your residence based on this year’s intake.
Based on our experience so far, I encourage parents who are considering MCS to not wait till Phase 2CS to sign up due to balloting in Phase 2CS. We were convinced that MCS is a good school after we went for open house a year ago (when my daughter was 5, yes we were kiasu). The facilities are so new and the school is very big. We also heard the HODs’ and Principal’s sharing over YouTube for an online open house in July last year that affirmed the school values character building and does not emphasize on grades solely to build the girls to be all-rounders (follow MCS facebook page to be informed when digital open house will take place this year).
Glad we signed up in Phase 2C and didn’t have to go through a “heart attack” as there was no competition to get in. I can see that my daughter takes pride and has become more disciplined in her learning. Whether there is affiliation to secondary school, it is no longer important. As long as the hunger for knowledge is in her, the grades will show and she will get into a secondary school which best fit her ability in future.
I think you have affirmed what many KSP have been saying all along: MCS is a gem that’s often overlooked in Phase 2C. Now that you have let the cat out of the box......

Hi there! Can i know from a parent who got MCS through Phase 2CS? How do you find the school , has your expectation changed? Im asking coz usually people choose MCS after they lose their chance in Chij schools.
Im thinking of my odds also. Heard from many people that the school is a hidden Gem. Even though no affiliation, girls are good students and go to good schools.
Hi parents
I would like to hear from parents whose daughters are studying in MMC on the amount of books that the students require to bring on a daily basis and what would be a good size school bag to purchase? I saw a wide variety online and not sure what is a good size bag to buy to fit all the books required for each day. I haven’t gotten the book list yet for my daughter going P1 next year so really appreciate your sharing in advance!

Hi everyone .....got a confirmed seat for my daughter in phase 2C. Anyone else's child joining MC for P1 in 2021 ?
smimum, check out the school website. There is a link to the school bus which you can get contact to the bus driver serving the area you are staying at:

Thanks for your reply Henson! Appreciate it!
I’m thinking of applying for Marymount Convent for my daughter when she goes P1 next year. I have 2 questions for those who have already enrolled their daughters:
1) I noticed that the girls wear black shoes as part of their uniforms. Are there rules that we have to buy the shoes from specific vendor? Or can we just buy black sports shoes (may have a white trimming at the side of sole)?
2) what is the percentage of students who are catholic? As my family does not have a religion, how can we better prepare our daughter before she enters primary school (besides bringing her to church)?
Thanks in advance!
