Hi funkymonkey,I wonder when we wil know if we got into the CCa we wanted!!!
Also on the 21st January, the parents' briefing is 9.30 am-11.30am...are we supposed to bring our child long?I'm SAHM so how????
Anyone else out there know if our gal has school as per normal?if then,i'll definitely have problems!!!Gal wil be too tired if she follows me but then again, thee'll be no one to send her to school later....YIKES!!!Better start planning just in case.... :?: :?:
You will know which CCA your DD has been selected for by end of this week as CCA will start next week for the lower pri gals. Good luck.
Last year, for the P1 parents' briefing, some parents brought their gals along in uniform. Yeap, sch as usual for your gals on that day. You can either get your DD to sleep earlier the night before and bring your DD along for the briefing or get someone to take care of her while you attend the briefing, then go back home to send your DD to sch (Ya, a bit troublesome). Still got time to organise something.

Hi jesyeo,What does SAHM means? I guess I have to bring my girl along as I have the same problem. No one else to bring her to school later.
Have u submitted the CCA form? Mine is still in my DD's bag. Have put it in there since Monday but her teacher din collect it.
Btw, my DD said Ms Sung appears to be very fierce during the class she said she always angry. Haha. I think she meant fierce. She prefers her chinese teacher.
SAHM-stay at home mum.
I suggest you ask your DD to pass the CCA form to her FT on her own accord; otherwise, your DD might miss out on her CCA. CCA will start next week for the lower pri gals. I know it can be a daunting task for a P1, maybe she can go with a few classmates to submit the form to her FT.
Ya, Ms Sung can be fierce....that's why her class is always the most well-behaved P1 class... But she's a very caring and encouraging teacher. Maybe you can read the +ve feedback about Ms Sung at the below link:

Hi autumn82,
Your DD can put any books (but no valuables or jacket) she wants in her locker. Just don't forget to bring the books back home for homework when she needs them.
Some gals do bring their art bag to and from sch. Maybe the art bag is too big to fit into the locker with the other books or maybe they're worried it'll get lost. If you want, your DD can leave the art block in her locker without the art bag.
Maybe this time round I wanna go @@ how big her lockers r... Coz some days the books really tooooooo heavy. LOL.
Their 'locker' looked like a big cabinet divided into rows - Rectangular not square size kind. It is big and roomy enough in length to put the art bag, whiteboard + marker pack.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!!!

I did not see any Chinese Spelling list in my daughter's file. You DD got the list?
Today's my gal's chinese spelling... I made her do both.. :lol:autumn82:
Hey great to know another parent whose DD is in respect. Yes. Chinese spelling tomorrow. Only the HAN YU PING YING. What is your DD's name?
My DD mentioned the English Spelling and showed me the list but not the Chinese.
:?
My gal got both the chinese and english spelling papers on the same day.. -
Anyone's gal with Ms Joey Lee...

Hi autumn82,
Chinese and English spelling on the same day?? Very shiong!! Never encountered this situation with my DDs in the last 5 years. Is your DD ok with that? If not, maybe you can bring that up to the FT during the parents' briefing. If enough parents 'protest', the teachers will compromise. -
acbj:
Hi acbj,DD told me that they have a test yesterday and she was told she belong to a group for Chinese.
Are they going to band and group the children so soon?
I'm not sure if the test your DD did yesterday is related to the chinese group banding but the sch does band the students according to the academic abilities for MT.
For P1 this term, grouping might be random or based on the teacher's observations but from next term onwards, it's definitely according to the teacher's assessment of your DD.
For P1, your DD will only be in this class for 1 term. Next term, they'll change class according to how they'be been banded. Those who are weak in MT will be allocated to 1 class where they'll cover ε―Όε ₯ and ζ ΈεΏ components in the textbook at a slower pace. Majority of the pupils will be banbed into the standard class where they'll cover ζ ΈεΏ component.
Those who are stronger in their MT will be banded into a high-ability class (called the enrichment class) where they'll cover ζ ΈεΏ and ζ·±εΉΏ components. ζ·±εΉΏ component is not tested in exams; it's just extra work to stretch high-ability students. The teacher teaching the enrichment class last year was a Chinese native.
Hope this info helps to clarify any doubts.

Like tinkerbelle said SAHM is stay at home mum;so like you,i'll bring my gal along on the 21st...hope she won't be bored to tears!!!!must bring colouring stuff,storybooks....doodle pad...etc
My gal seem ok with Ms Sung. She said that she always speak slowly and kindly to her...hmmm.maybe its because my gal special needs so FT more patient with her
My gal however is PETRIFIED of her malay teacher...i finally managed to speak to her over the phone today after calling 4 times since last week...i wanted to \"warn\"the teacher first about my gal but when she called me just now...she was negative, not pleasant and sounded very pissed off in fact. I was    she kept saying it was her lunchtime and she has a meeting and kept on interrupting me right after she asks me \"so what do u want me to do?\"i could hardly get a word in... :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:
My gal cried this morning and kept saying \"I'm nervous\"over and over all the way to school :gloomy: :gloomy: :gloomy:

Hi Tinkerbelle,
can i ask if you know we can only opt for one CCA class? i mean weβve given 3 choices but at the end DD will be selected from one of her choices only or can take 3 of them? coz i see Art club and Dance club got clashed at 10:30-12:00 and 9:30-11:30 respectively and school starts at 12:15pm, if DD joins the Art Club then she will only have 15minutes for lunch before the school starts? TIA.
