I received the email but I thought the feedback was only for the uniform vendor contract so I ignored it.... not aware the tea session is for any other matters too?...Callie Tan:
I really don't know what is this tea session all about... I received an email from Mr. Koh, the admin manager on Monday. In the email, it was mentioned that the contract for the school uniform vendor will expire this Jun, and this is one of the topics that will be brought up during the tea session...
And yes, the email states that each level only 24 parents are allowed...
Anyway kinda last minute, not a good timing for working parents..
Ok I went for the briefing... it was mainly about the school uniforms... only about 20 of us... some parents with more than one kid can share more lah... for me nothing much to contribute.
Yes Mr Koh did mention to us if we have other issues but I found it a bit difficult to go in-depth with the issues I intend to bring up. The P was in the meeting too...we spoke a bit about the school's plans to go single-session. -

I feel that Pei Chun has been making efforts to improve on communication with parents. Level briefing, PN and newsletter on exam matters shares vital info in advance. Many other schools my friends' kids go to don't give such detail info regarding exams until a later date.
Regarding communication between class teachers and parents, as long as teachers inform us of important matters (eg. serious behavioural issues) there is no need to update parents on the day-to-day happenings in class. Where do they find time to prepare lessons if they were to tell parents that they did a quiz or a practice in pairs? I would like the teachers to focus on teaching rather than managing demanding parents.
Totally agree that we should manage our expectations and also understand the workload of teachers... cannot be too demanding. Yes I normally will try to dig out information from my girl..and even if I Find something puzzling, I will email and wait for an answer lor...
But it can be a bit frustrating when I took initiative to ask and yet still get conflicting info!! That's when I wonder what's going on... a recent example would be the attire for CNY celebration...It was a trivial matter yet couldn't be sorted out until the last day. -

So did the principal say when will the school go on single session? Before then, is there a need for the shcool to operate from another premise? -
Hi bridesep,
The P is saying that we will most likely be the last few schools to turn single session… perhaps by 2016. This is because a lot of planning is required and the architects have to submit all proposals for approval from MOE… The way I look at it is it will not be within the next 2 years… However, the P decline to speculate the exact date.
And yes, most likely the kids have to be moved to another premise during the upgrading works… and there is no where suitable in TPY… so it might be outside of TPY… -
The kids will start their AS next week… my girl is so upset… think next week everything will be in full swing…
-
I agree with Callie that we need to be understanding on the teachers workload.... but I have to agree that so far this year, the PNs were on time and prompt.... like the school bus knocking down the wall incident, the very next day, all the kids got the PN about it. Guess the school is working on it to give us information more promptly. :rahrah:
As for the school shifting for upgrading, heard about it too. It seems the best location is where SJI is using currently but think we should not speculation too much but wait for the school's confirmation and update to us.
Have a great school holiday, everyone! :imcool: -
My girl will be joining PC next year. Can I check if p1 will be afternoon or morning session? School starts at 7.30am? Pardon my ignorance.
Is there any way to get hold of the book list to have a look at the textbooks used? My niece from another school intends to pass us her used textbooks but am not sure if it is relevant for PC’s context.
Hope someone can advise me. Thank u! -
