Hi mummies, my boy is in p2 this year. Can I check how do they stream the kids into sports class or individual classes next year, p3? I just found out today that they have selected the students for basketball and volleyball and my boy said that this group will go for basketball and volleyball training. How do they determine this group of students can cope well academically and with the cca? The information given is very vague. My boy hope to be selected for wushu or basketball. I have no idea how to prepare my boy to ensure his selection for cca and him being in the right class. Can any mummies advise?

Hi minmin27
I am afraid we have no say in \"ensuring\" our kids to be in certain niche CCA as the selection process is done by the school. If your kid is not selected for e.g. basketball school team, he can still select basketball as his general CCA as the niche CCAs do accept students as their non-school team players but there are \"limited\" vacanies for certain CCAs - and as for HOW they allocate the numbers per level, that I am not too sure. -
Hi minmin27to increase yr dc chance for selection to basketball, volleyball or table tennis - you can teach yr dc the sport or hire an external coach. That way when school conduct trials during pe yr dc has an advantage. I think thus would apply for wushu too - many children start on their own earlier n cca is then just an extension of dc interest. I must stress the ONLY advantage of being in sports class atp3-4 is homework mgmt. Teachers will give less hmwk on training days. Imho sports class is just for easier administration for kids w more cca training- wushu not included. However for general cca purpose kids can choose any cca they want once a wk.
With the New P I don’t know if this still applies. Currently with the new P at P6 compulsory supp class after school is banded at subject level. This is the first yr. Advantage is teacher can match pace to similar grp of students. But it’s a lot of staying back n homework load at p6 is tough. -
Hi All,
I m currently residing in Bishan and planning to send my son to Pei Chun next year. Can i check the school bus schedule for those whom stays ard Bishan St 12/13?
Whats the timming for afternoon session? -
Like to check - does anyone here send ds/dd to TLL for P4 science. Why I am asking is because TLL groups its tuition class according to school. I was told that TLL groups PCPS students with students from Nanyang Pri. Need your opinion on the lesson in TLL’s class.

At the end of p3, some pupils will be offered to go to Sports class for volleyball, basketball and table tennis (these are called niche CCA, no sure about wushu and chinese orchestra, also niche). The selection is carried out during PE lessons. There are 2 sports classes at p3 and p4. Come P5, there will only be 1 sports class, so there is another round of selection at end of p4. At p3, non sports class pupils are randomly put into the different classes. Those in sports class may be strong or weak academically. Come p5, the academically strong school team pupils will still go to 5A and 5B. The reason for putting the pupils in sports class is for better time management. These classes have special PE lesson (to practise their niche CCA) once or twice a week (cannot remember) while the rest do normal PE.
The pupils in sports class have once a week practice after school hours. Need to go back during the school holidays for practice. At P4, the volley ball pupils will have more practice as they have tournaments, no tournament in P3. I can only share about VB, not sure about basketball and table tennis. -

TLL groups the student based on the science curriculum of each school, which varies slightly... It happens that Nanyang and PCPS share the same curriculum.
Not sure about the science lessons in TLL.... -
Can I check, why are there certain classes with co-form teachers and some classes without co-form teachers? How does the school determine which class needs co-form teachers? What do these co-form teachers do?

Hey parents! T3 is starting soon and we may need to standby some masks for the kids just in case the haze situation does not stabilized. For your info, you may get the masks now from the following places as there are plenty of stocks.
Do not need to buy from those sellers who keep increasing the prices.
Unity Toa Payoh (capped at 10pcs per customer) - they have 8110s and 1860s. Both are meant for children but i prefer 1860s as my child is smaller frame and it fits very well. $2.25/pc
Watsons Toa Payoh (capped at 5pcs per customer) - selling 8110s
Guardian - Stocks still available today as at 6pm. However, there is no cap on the quantity and I see some people buying more than 10 boxes. Not too such of the stocks situation now.
http://list.qoo10.sg/item/NEW-STOCK-JUST-ARRIVED-N95-PARTICULATE/410973248?selectedOptions=#questionAnswer - Currently OOS but new stocks will be available on Mon / Tue. (TBC and need to check the website for updates). Self collect and capped at 2 boxes (20pcs per box) per customer. Non profit making. Very good quality. $22 per box.
