I remember the school mentioned that there is a maths workshop for parents of P1 during the P1 briefing. The workshop is this sat, any idea what is the timing like and where is it being held?

Understand that the maths briefing is on 12March morning ๐Ÿ™‚ Remember to bring your pencil and ruler !

Hi Mamemo, the maths briefing is on the 12th? I tot its indicated in the handouts during P1 briefing that its on the 5th??? If its changed, why no update till now since 5th is this weekend and where did you get the info that its rescheduled to 12th? Appreicate your kind advise. Thanks.
Hi Marmum, info is from my DS's FT. So should be quite accurate. Think timing is from 11am to 12.30pm. Maybe they will give out the handout these 2 days ๐Ÿ™‚

It's considered enrichment, conducted after school hrs...hmm, might not be compulsory, can P3 parents shed some light on this ?

You can check from the sharepoint website under P3 briefing for parents.

There is a free swimming programme in P3, about 6 lessons only. These are conducted after school hours, participation is not compulsory. Sch will arrange for transport to and fro Toa Payoh swimming pool.

6 lessons enough to learn swimming meh ??? :?
It's just a very basic course ๐Ÿ™‚ You can refer to last year's PN in the school's website for more info:

Yup, the teachers use this book differently. My daughter, currently in P2, has just started using this more frequently. In P1, she hardly use the book.

My girl in 1F uses the grammar book but not very often...

I am very puzzled about this whole teaching curriculum. While it might be true that teachers have different styles, pace and ways of teaching, it can't be so diiferent within the same level right? How come some students use the books regularly while some didn't touch the book at all?? If I am not wrong, the steller materials did refer to the grammar book for some exercises to be done... then those students did't do at all??

But seriously, some fundamentals of English grammar need to be taught and drill into the kids. Personally I feel that more supplements need to be given on top of the steller materials...

No news from the school on the maths briefing :?

For swimming, there is compulsory swimming enrichment in P3...

Pei Chun has a new vice principal ! Just curious, is it common for schools to have 2 VPs ?
I guess Pei Chun has a pretty big population... and with so many ongoing programmes etc, a 2nd VP is needed to help out...

I wrote the question about the math workshop in the diary so she's calling me to inform me of the date and time.

The handouts will be distributed this week and we have to indicate whether we are attending or not. Time is 11am to 12.30pm on 12th March.

Yah! Maybe the population is too big for the principal to handle. Since starting school, based on a couple of incidents, I find that the teachers are not very friendly and helpful. Adding to this, like the maths workshop which is to scheduled to be held this sat is postpone to next week and no info given yet till today which is juz two days away from the scheduled maths workshop. The school should advise us in advance like a weekโ€™s notice on changes as we need to plan our schedules too. I encountered a couple of situations whereby my childโ€™s form teacher only give me a proper or reasonable answer only when I asked the 2nd time. Any comments on your childโ€™s class teachers and the school administration?

My kid says the teachers are all very strict. Kids are punished by being asked to stand in front of the class, outside the class, face the wall and \"think about what (he) should have done instead\" haha!! Stomach cannot touch the desk when standing up to greet teacher. Teachers' response is fine for me. My kid's FT does not reply to email (quite elderly). But will call. Chief means of communication is via Pupil's Diary.

Wow, I didn't know about such punishments at all!! Well, I am cool with such stuffs as long as it is nothing physical... hehe...
