      Hi,

Have mummies here received the top 25% notification from MOE today? May I know if they will ever bother to check the income? For top 10% of P5 and P6, nothing to do with income right?

          Hi,

The letter was sent by the constituency u live in. Can any parents who received the top 25%\tnotification letter share how much was the percentage obtained by their kids and for which level? If there’s P5 parent who received the top 10%, may we also know whats the %?

No news yet. For the top 10% in P5/6, the scholarship is not dependent on income.

I have two girls in Pei Chun, one just completed her PSLE. I recalled when my first girl went to PCPS she did not speak a word of Chinese, she had A for PSLE in Chinese.

I guess the shool is a good environment to pick up Mandarin, even though I understand that most students speak to each other in English.

Actually, P1 chinese is not that frightening lah. Even my KOR's friend's daughter who does not know a single word of chinese when she enters our local school this year can score 91 at end of P1 assessment. The text book is structured in such a way that is simple enough for the 6 / 7 years old to follow. As long as they pay attention in class, I do not think there is a big problem. 😄

My suggestion is you can start preparing your child with fundamentals like teaching the 声母,韵母。Most of the stories I heard were the kids got a bit confused with phonics they learned in English... The first term of P1 Chinese, the kids will be drilled so you need not worry too much. Most of the stuff will be taught from basic.
