The news is correct without contradiction ... There's indeed no balloting for St H at Phase 2B coz all available seats are allocated to <1km and 1-2km, with no seats left for balloting for those out of 2km.

ooops, thanks. Need another pair of spectacles... 🙂

Wow… mum2one… your news was super accurate. St Hilda’s just posted its vacancies for Phase 2C => 44 only. Phase 2B take up is 46 instead of the original posted 45. So the lucky 18th did get a place in Phase 2B, but at the cost of 1 seat from Phase 2C. Considering that this 18th family is 1-2km and Phase 2C will likely involve balloting under 1km, they are really super lucky!

 Can they do that? Isn't it stated that the remaining seats to be divided equally between phase 2B and 2C? Wouldn't those balloting families under 1km cry foul over the lost of 1 seat?

I thought it was unfair as well. Read St Hilda’s site and felt that the reason given was not acceptable. Wondering if it would help at all to bring to MOE’s attention…at the expense of 1 less vacancy in Phase 2C.

                From http://www.sthildaps.net/:
\"Though there are only 17 applications, there are 18 applicants due to a pair of twins. All the 18 applicants have been successfully registered with our school. Hence, the number of vacancies for Phase 2C will be 44.\"

OIC... this was the case with the twins. OK lar... IMHO, I think it is an acceptable explanation. Then again, I'm not balloting in Phase 2C :).

Anyway... for those hoping to get into St. Hilda's Phase 2C, take a look at the poll above in this thread. The competition is going to be VERY stiff.

                  Hi

Any parents register their child in Poi Ching today for phase 2B? Just want to gauge how's the respond as I've heard from parents who went to RSS and Temasek Primary, there were almost 20-50 parents who have registered just in the morning itself.

Please provide some updates as I can't wait till end of tomorrow to see the remaining vacancies for Phase 2C.
Yes, I am @simei. I registered my child in poi ching@ phase 2b. total 71 seats at 2b, 30+ registered. so confirm seat for my child.

Anyone else also registered in poi ching school?

After reading the past postings, I think I must start thinking and planning for my kids future…

I hope Chief and all could help me to analyse my situation for my son’s P1 enrolment in 2011:

We do not stay in Tampines but kids are with my parents in Tampines and childcare in Tampines.

Intend to send my kids (2011) to Primary schools near my mum place for convenience.

The preferred schools in my radar are St Hilda (0.99km, within 1km from my mum place), Red Swastika (1.99km, within 2km from my mum place). Other choices included Chongzheng. Last choice will be Tampines Primary (just 1 block away, within 1 km from my mum place).

I intend to do PV for the preferred schools. But not sure which school will have higher chance for my son to be enrolled. Really hope to do PV and not need balloting to get a place.

Anyone to give me your insights or analysis?

Actually, this thing about twins intrigues me... I mean, if there are quadruplets and they all apply for the same school, does it mean if one gets in then all gets in? To the same class too? Boy, won't that just piss off everyone downstream if they take up 4 places in a single ballot situation? They will each have 1 ticket in the box and yet if 1 gets in, then all gets in!

So maybe we parents should all go for IV to maximize our chance of getting twins, triplets, etc just to get better chances at P1 registration!

Or maybe the solution is for the twins to share a seat in class. Well, they should have been used to sharing mummy's womb anyway.... 🙂 🙂

Sorry... a bit irreverent. Slow day lah... back to the regular programming of is-this-school-better-than-the-other-I-saw-with-sam-seng-boys-the-other-day.

I think it is as fair if you look at it together with the Phase 1 priority principle. It make logistical sense for all siblings to study in the same school together.
Hm...how about adopted siblings? lets say I ask my sis to adopt my boy (on paper) that is of the same age as my nephew as she is residing nearer to a popular school...do they enjoy the same 'seat' then? 😎
