How many SHKHK members are there about yearly? Is phase 2B balloting very competitive? Since there are clan members, PVs and Grassroot leaders balloting under this phase of 40 seats.

I am a mom who has 2 kids in this school. There really isn't anything I would recommend about Chongfu. The perception that it is a 'good school' is so outdated in my opinion, since principals and teachers have changed over the years, and schools no longer publish their PSLE results, so how do you know/define/qualify/quantify it as a 'good school'? Everytime I mentioned that my kids are from Chongfu, I get the \"wah.. 名校\". This term \"名校\" , comes with alot of pains such as super heavy homework load (everyday man, non-stop drilling especially on maths, weekends are burnt on homework, it's really sad) and difficult exam papers (especially mathematics). It's exam period now, my kids are still assigned homework! Where got time for revision..
hi, may i know what would you recommend abt chongfu? thanks.
In terms of CCA choices, like for sports, the selection is not fantastic at all (no basketball, no badminton), they do not even have choir. Teachers turnover rate is quite high. Teaching quality, I am so not impressed at all, especially their CL dept teachers.. Be prepared really for tuitions in order to survive/do well in this school. For languages (EL & CL), the time dedicated to teaching compo/oral is not alot, but these are substantial components at PSLE. They don't even do Oral at Mid-Year exam. They only do Oral at End Year Exams. Two compos for one semester then you are on your own to take the compo exam.
It's really not as fantastic as how many perceive the school to be. We have friends who wanted to do parent volunteer just to get a chance at this school, we often advised against it and asked them not to waste time. -
It’s disheartening to read these about CF. Is there nothing good abt the sch? I do not think CF is a branded sch but rather, it’s a middle ranking neighbourhood school with relatively good results students produced. I have heard about the daily homework but I thought it will be advantageous to get them prepared for the PSLE. It is a rare non SAP school that offers HCL starting P1, isn’t it an advantage to score better to get into a good secondary school? That is of cause provided that they can do well in this subject. I did a search on CF’s academic results, it had some good scores in producing students with 250 points & above in PSLE. Is the current principal going to stay for another year or two?

One man's meat is another man's poison.
Some parents adore homework, some parents don't. Some parents think the school isn't assigning enough homework, some parents think the school is assigning too much. Some parents love the drilling, some parents think it's best to leave it once understanding is achieved. As no two parents (and their philosophy towards education) are alike, and no two schools (even among MOE schools) are alike, it's better to understand / compare and go for a school that's a better fit rather than go for a school because everyone is after it.
On CCA - every school will have some pluses and minuses; no schools will have every CCA available (e.g. my daughter's school doesn't have the sport that she's involved in as well). Some parents don't see it as an important component of education. However, if it's essential to a parent, it's best to research and find out what's available before applying.
On teaching quality - every school will have good teachers and bad teachers, some schools will have more of the other. I won't comment unless I have a valid basis of comparison, such as having my child in Chongfu. Nonetheless, I believe it's uncommon for a school (even in 'top schools') to have every teacher living up to the parents' expectations.
On oral / exam format - different schools do different things. I'm assuming they have their reasons for doing what they do, especially if they the (past) results to show for. The school (system) doesn't cater for individual needs - they can only identify the common denominator and do what's required. If need be, parents would have to get involved and help to brush up / beef up on the child's weaker areas. Unfortunately, that's just the reality of how things work, given the general constraints.
*While Chongfu is no doubt a popular school, it isn't a bona fide \"名校\". IMHO \"名校\" typically refers to the GEP or SAP schools. I won't call it a middle ranking neighbourhood school either as it's a lot more than that. Chongfu should be among a number of historical schools that has consistently produced relatively good results over the years.

Hi Parents of children (born in 2016),
Does anyone of you receive email for successful PV yet?
Does anyone knows how many PV the school accepts for child born in 2016? I am planning to register my child under 2B and this year's 2B results were shocking 😐
