      Hi mommies

I'm a newbie here. My boy has been accepted for CFS for next year P3 transfer from Woodlands Ring Pri. I want to know how is Chong Fu streaming like and how stress is the school?

Currently, my son will be in top class in Woodlands Pri for P3 next year. But CFS will take him only for normal class. Is the streaming in CFS comes every year or every two year? Can some parents give some advice. We are still considering whether or not to transfer him there..
No streaming from p1 to p2. In P3, there will be top 2 classes, there after there will be streaming every year except p5/p6. It can be quite stressful to remain in the top.

        Hi kaka

Thanks for replying. Can I know your child is on which level primary now? I just decided to move my elder one in. As a transfer child, he will be in the normal class regardless of the results. Is the swimming lesson start from p3? My son can’t swim. Wondering if that is allright.

I am wondering, based on statistics or gutfeel, if a child currently does well in P1, will the child continue to do well in upper primary?

Just curious why would you want to switch from Woodlands Pri to CFS? Woodlands Pri is a rather good school in Woodlands and your son will be in the top class, also what about the changes impact on the child? Have you considered this?

After considering CFS recent PSLE results, I don’t think CFS is that great a school after all? My neighbourhood school downstairs, which doesnt need to ballot, has a higher top PSLE score than CFS!

Hi, Study result depends on few thing... IQ, study habit, and teaching method. Usually kids will do well if starts at P1... this prove that his IQ quite ok... but how to continue and maintain is not easy, there are too many factors. Usually for teaching method no need to worry too much as the school like Chongfu, will not too far away from maintain good teaching standard. But how to maintain kids or to train kids has good study habit is very important...this needs a lot of parents effort when the kids still in P1 or P2… anyway as parents is not easy… enjoy your parenthood…. 😆

I agree. Except for Chinese, I am not sending my kids to any tuition and do not plan to do so if I can help it. I still want to give my kids space to play and enjoy their childhood while being able to cope in school. The question really comes up about "how to train my kids to be disciplined enough to devote more time to studying (ie good study habits) versus the need to give them space to explore things they enjoy (ie playing)

Because I want him to change friends. Rather sad to see the environment in Woodlands Pri is not as good, in terms of peers and friends. CFS is more strict in terms of disciplines.

Regarding the class, CFS streaming is every year, so he can have a chance to go to good class next year..

If this is the case, why not you wait for the P3 GEP program test, and move to even better school... such as Raffles girl ( if is girl), or Catholic high( if is boy) ... .. just suggestion only...

Yah… Initially thinking about that… But I tink gifted programme can be quite competitive… Im not sure if he is up to standard to get in… Initially trying to drop in the transfer form to cfs to try only… Im not alumni nor volunteering anything and stay more than 2km… Was surprised to see my kid get in… So decided to put him in… Anybody here the kid. Is pri 3 next yr in cfs?
