        MMM,

        thanks for your feedback. 😄

kinderland's BIG PLUS for me is that it is a 3-hour class instead of a full-day or half-day class...dun think my kid can tahan a class that last > 3 hours

my kid is an only child so this whole school hunting experience is new to me..
yep, heard about chitern house... gave them a call but was told that the waiting list has > 20 kids...
& they are only taking in 15 kids next year. i.e. even if the whole class opts out, I still need to wait 2 rounds!!

anyway, chitern house is a bit out-of-the-way for me...

read in some other posts that kinderland is slightly weak in chinese... is that true? any enrichments to recc? (but would really hate this cos dun want to load kid with too many class... 😞 )

Yes, I think their CL is not strong. My cousin teaches CL in one of the branches and highlighted this to me and gave me some enrichment centre recommendations which I followed when my eldest is in K2. Actually the ideal time to start is nursery so she is considered as late, but luckily the enrichment centre did wonders for her and till now, CL is still one of her strongest subjects.

In the North east area, i believe you can send your child to Berries or other CL enrichment centre in that area. My kids go to Molin but it is in katong area.

This is what I started my K1 on :
Since Nursery - Chinese, phonics (Jan & Elly), ballet, music (note Kinderland also has their weekly music class).
        From K1 - LW, Maths, Chinese S&D

I just switched my K1 from Kinderland Marine Parade to Upper Serangoon from term 2 this year. At one point, my hubby was like... with that kind of $ we are spending on her every month, we can send her to Pat's schoolhouse and stop all other classes. But I prefer to send her to the experts in each area and don't fancy those under one roof solution (no offence as my personal opinion). So I feel that Kinderland works well for us.

hi, can u advise me if kinderland marine parade is good? why do you switch? i am staying in between the 2 schools and seriously thinking which one to go

Yes Kinderland MP is good. Low teachers turnover and most teachers have been there for years. In fact, my own cousin taught there for at least 10+ years. My 2 older kids did pre-n to K2 in MP.

I switched because we moved to Upp Serangoon 2 yrs plus ago. My K1 like her siblings started with MP since pre-n, she was my weekend child and stayed over at my mum's place on weekdays which is nearer to MP. But with P1 approaching, I wanted her to be home with us everyday so that I can guide her.

It was a difficult decision as I felt that MP was good in terms of space and teachers,etc... my mum knows most if not all the teachers there since she was bringing my kids there for the last 7 years. But it's been coming to 2 terms that my girl has switched to Upper Serangoon. She is adapting well and we are happy.

I am getting very confused. My son is in Kinderland YCK K1 now. Just enrolled her not to long ago. He does not have any homework so far and I was told that the school does not have any spelling (both English & Chinese) even when he is in K2. Is that true? Different Kinderland centres operates differently?

cobc: you'd better check with the teachers. From my understanding, tingxie & spelling will only be introduced at term 3 K2. There are actually many other ccc which gave the children headstart at K1 onwards.

I checked Kinderland earlier this year & they cite that their cirriculum for childcare is on par with their kindergarden which is also on par with many pcf in this case then. This yck branch is big but the air con is also very cold

Maybe different kinderland has different practise.

My K1 at Upper Serangoon gets a weekly phonics homework on friday. I don't recall my older kids having that when they were K1 in Marine parade.

In addition, for tingxie and spelling, I recalled that my kids started at K2 in Marine parade. But I think it's earlier than term 3.

I visited YCK today as my K1 is practising for her performance. I thought the compound is great. Big and there are rabbits, playplace,etc...

How’s Kinderland compared with Cherie Hearts and Learning Vision?
