Kinderland

Hi,
I’m very new here. Just wonder if anyone know Kinderland woodland mart has HFMD often?
I wanted to go visit last week but they turned me away a I had a youngest one with me that day. Upon hearing it I’m worried. -

My dd2 was with Kinderland PV for almost a year. I moved her out this year due to the long distance. She had to take school bus at 6.50 am every morning, which I find it too taxing for her.Any mummies with kids at Kinderland @pandan valley? Will greatly appreciate any comments and experience to share!

I am keen on enrolling my girl for N2 next yr. Wonder if the teachers and curriculum are good...
They have huge rooms, both indoor and outdoor playgrounds, with an indoor gym area. Lots of space for kids. Something I did not quite like was that the morning cirruculums were mostly on level 2, where every kids walk around with shoes, yet they sit on the floor for lessons sometimes. Afternoon, the cc kids went downstairs for naps and lesson (shoes off), which I think is more hygenic. JMO.
She loved it there and still talk about it till today. She was with them since 2. The teachers are mostly loving and patience (for her Pre-N) class, except for 1 that dh and I greatly dislike - she was with stern face and dd2 had a lot of neg comments about her). The principal, Mrs Prima was a very nice Indian lady, very caring.
I heard that recent closure of Kinderland Bt Timah had resulted in some overcrowding the the PV centre, you may want to check the tr to kids ratio before you make your decision.
Overall, I find it with great cirriculums and mostly great teachers. She benefited and learnt tons of things there. I was told that from K1(if I am not wrong), they will have keyboard/electon programmes includes in their cirriculum.
As for CCK, I somehow find the room too small. Only plus points are that they offer crestar ballet programmes, which dd2 will love to have and the superb location, near to shopping mall and MRT. -

Altho I have unsure which MMI you are refering too. My dd1 was graduated from MMI phoenix walk. She started with them at K1 (sept) as we were overseas before then. At that time, her academic standard were a big gap from those from that school (SGP std) and their teachers were patient. They really took time with her to help her catch up with her peers and integrated her well into the Singapore practises (more routine and discipline). She made it great to her K2 and even P1. The cirriculum was pretty enriching, building great phonic foundation and mathematics concepts for her. Abit too advance was my concern. But, dd1 made it great in her P1 with full marks scored for both her English and Mathematics. Her mandarin was very poor (not even N1 level) when she started with them. At P1, with help from another pte tutor, she made it to great scores too.
hi budsbuds:
MMI Bt Panjang left a painful shred of mine and
my child's life. Heavy politics. No-brainer teachers.
Shouting, screaming, yelling... Wait a minute, the last
three words mean the same thing! Its done all the time
that's why. Not a Montessori environment entirely.
Punishment?
Heck, lets not even go there.
Not enuf space to pen down here.
which MMI are you referring to? ten mile junction or phoenix walk? what happen? can share your experience?
Overall, I find the centre has large space with pte garden and play area. Teachers were very communicative and helpful. The only complain was the mosquitoe bites that dd1 always bring back every now and then.
To be fair, I also came across her her ex-classmates from the same MMI whose parents thot MMI did not work well for their kids.
I also visited other MMI centres for my dd2 about a year ago. I cannot say the same for many (esp those void deck) branches that they have the same satisfying std I had for the Pheonix Walk branch. Well, that just my experience.
I placed my dd2 with Kinderland PV. She also benefited alot from there. The teacher-kids ratio looked better than with MMI. The PV centre has even larger garden and playground. Of course, that comes with a larger price tag. The reason I did not place dd2 with her sister's ex cc was because MMI did not have a space for her then (6 mth after dd1 left) and she did not seem to have much 'chemistry' with that centre during our first visit. She loved her teachers and acquired so much skills and knowledges there.
IMO, the baseline is to find a centre suited to your child. The enviroment, the teachers and cirriculum play a part each. Someone who benefits alot from one does not actually mean that your child will too. -
Hi IJJ
Is your dd2 still at Kinderland Pandan Valley? I am considering enrolling my girl for N2 next year. Would be v grateful if you could kindly share some of your experience..
I heard that the Kinderland PV let the children watch TV. Is that true? How is their curriculum and teacher like? HFMD control measure in the school?
Millions of thanks! -
Hi IJJ
Millions of thanks for your valuable feedback!
I am making appointment to visit the school hopefully by this week. It is really tough to look for one suitable nursery school for our kids nowadays.
Ya i agree that letting your little one taking school bus at 6.50am is really too early. I would be very heartpain to let them take such early school bus too.
I am thinking of enrolling my girl for half day child care. Reason being i am trying to minimise her travelling by school bus. My hubby would be able to bring her to school ard 8+ and she can take the bus back at 1pm thereafter. What kind of arrangement is your little one in previously? whole day cc, half day or 3 hrs nursery?
By the way, is it true that the school let the kids watch TV?
Sori.. i have post some queries too to you in another thread. Kindly ignore and reply instead. So sori. -

Mine was doing full day. It is true that they let the kids watch TV, Barney and Hi 5, in the evening. As my gal left school mostly at 4.15 pm, she did not get to watch those programmes often.Hi IJJ

Hi IJJ
Thanks for your reply.
So there isn’t any TV showing in the morning during the main curriculum time. The TV programme were shown in the evening while the kids are waiting for the parents to come. Am I correct?
May I know which level are your kids in? N2 or K1/K2? Is the Kinderland competitive and updated to prepare them well for P1? -
Any feedbacks on Kinderland @ Tg Pagar branch?

My daughter is a Feb 2006 kid. She was placed in a PreN with mostly 2005 kids as she had certain 'strong' preferences with teachers and classmates. I cannot advise how well they prepared kids for P1 as she was not there in kindergarten level, what I can say is my daughter did pretty well while she was there. She managed to remember and understand countless of mandarin songs (we did not speak much mandarin at home), started to exchange meaningful conversations bilingually with us and could start doing 'discussions' with her class with longer attention span. Most of the time, she returned with big smile on her face and happy stories/happenings from school. I was and still pretty impressed with what the teachers had done with her.Hi IJJ
