Hi Queen Or Maid,
Oh so PCF is not as gd as u think?
As I m staying at Blk 726, so still thinking if to put my gal at nearby student care near Peiying or just stick my my student care at Ace achievers at Blk 729 Yishun St 71, as is quite near to my hse.
As I m a working mother, I need to fetch my son fm childcare then fetch my gal fm student care, so the distance likewise is v impt to me.
May I know what is the mkt rate for the private student care ? As d Ace achievers cost $320, but they got provide also the in house tution, i find tat not bad.
But if in house tution, i dun noe if my gal will feel tired,as morning time already wake up very early. So is best to attend tution on wk days or wk end?
But the Ace achievers, inside is quite small, dun think they got the enug space to nap.
How big is the Pro-Teach? How much is d cost, ur son also tution there? -
Hi qq_guy,
From my conversation with Pro-Teach yesterday, was told that they charge $330/mth. 2 teachers will wait for the children at the school gate & line them up in pairs before escorting them to the centre via the overhead bridge. The children will eat & shower at the centre before tuition & finally school homework. There is no time to nap actually. It's best to visit the centre personally to check it out. Give them a call at 67595953 to find out more

The impression I had on PCF was so so and I find it not as organised as the MFS. But I didn’t get the chance to view the area for their afternoon nap (apparently another place at the same block). Don’t think they guide them on homework, just ensure that it get done.
Pro Teach charges $330.
Yes, my boy was flat out at night for 1st half of the year. I guess he was used to afternoon nap at childcare. I just make sure he is in bed by 9.30 pm and gives him supplements. But he is used to the timing now, back from Pro Teach still have energy to go cycling and sleeps at 10.30 pm. He gets up at 6.15 am.
The homework guidance bit is crucial to me because I reach home close to 9.00 pm after dinner at my mum place. The tuition is an advantage, and I free up his weekend for tv and activities time with some light assignments. You know… work hard for 5 days and rest on weekends. Otherwise this poor mummy will be working solid 7 days – 5 for bosses and 2 shuttling kids around.
If you don’t have help, proximity is important. Which childcare is your younger boy in? Plan your “pick up” route so you don’t have to run like a “headless chicken” when running late!

Yes, the homework guidance is good… It is nice after a hard day at work to ask your kis "how was your day in school" rather than "have you finish your homework?". -
Hi yellow belt,
So u will let ur kid join pro teach?
As I m living quite far away then the sch, i might choose my nearby student care.
Hi Queen or Maid,
Thanks for the information.
My son childcare is at Averbel, quite near to Yishun MRT.
So when I knock off, i will fetch my son then go straight to my gal student care.
Think I will choose my nearby student care,as I have to consider of the distance.
Btw, do you know for pro teach, wat is the max cap for kid during tution ?
Acutally I have spoken to my student care nearby my hse, they say they dun quite monitior for the sch homework, the kids have to ask teacher if unsure, is this the same operation for pro teach?
I actually want to choose pro teach since ur son is there.
But I have to think for long term,as I will still appeal my gal to my nearby sch at Jiemin, so I have to stick to my student care.
But I just want to know the student care operation for home work supervison & tution.
Different student care operate differently?
So how much is the tution for pro teach?
My student care charge me together with the tution is $499, is it reasonable?
My main concern is the academic -
Hi qq_guy & Queen,
If the lady I spoke to yesterday from Pro-Teach is correct, the $330/mth fees already includes tuition. Perhaps Queen can verify on this part.
Apparently from Queen's description, PT is not bad. They seem to do a good job supervising the kids' homework. Queen is absolutely right that it's a big relief if a mother can be home after work to spend quality time bonding with the child rather than pouring over their unfinished schoolwork. Weekend should be for non- schoolwork or assessment related activities. Outdoor fun would be a great respite for the whole family

Yes, S$330 includes tuition with some extra for tuition materials and school holiday surcharges. They organise optional weekly outings during school holidays too.
According to my son, the kids usually bring out their own homework and check with teacher if unsure. Difficult to guide homework in a group as they are from different schools. Sometimes the teacher will check school bag of those kids with "history" of unfinished homework. Anyway the kids will have PY pupil handbook where they supposed to record their homework as reminder.
qq_guy, I hope you get a space at Jiemin. It is much closer to home. They have their own in-house student care too right?
FairyPenguin, good luck with tomorrow’s viewing. When I first visited Pro Teach I thought it was a bit cramp but after weighting all the pro and cons it was the best among the 3 I shortlisted. -
Hi Fairy,
Do update me for tomorrow viewing.
If $330 with tution,is really cheap.
As mine with tution is cost $499, is it too ex? Or should I change to Pro Teach.
Hi Queen,
If I can get Jiemin, think will be in Pri 2 or 3, unless there is withdrawal arise for Pri 1. Yes there is a in hse student care inside the sch,but some parents say that is too cramp & is noisy.
So actually the cost to me also is impt, as I need to cater a sch bus in future.
Compare to the fee for Pro teach & my side student care, really a far apart.
I dun know should I consider to change. -
Hi qq & Queen,
Must admit I'm a bit disappointed by what I saw last Sat. PT's premise is quite small & cramp. Once you enter, the interior is a narrow aisle flanked by classrooms on both sides. The walls need a fresh coat of paint while the shower & eating areas are quite squeezy leaving me to wonder how the place can cope when all the students come in around 1+ from school. As Sat was a rather hot day, the floor of the place seems sticky...makes me cringe a bit with every step.
Room wise, PCF is more spacious. But with tuition thrown in, PT has an edge. I kept telling myself that since my girl will only be there for a few hours & if my objective is to let her benefit from the tuition programme with teachers guiding her schoolwork, there is no harm trying PT. I've filled in the application form & will likely let my girl try it out. If she can't adapt (because can't nap) or doesn't like it at PT, I'll find another alternative then...one step at a time, things will work out. Must stay positive
For qq, as you have to juggle 2 kids at one go, better to consider the distance & time factor carefully. It may get taxing for you if your routes are not planned properly. Since there is still time, perhaps you should try to find out from neighbours or other contacts on whether the student care nearby your house is alright. Though the price may be more but over the long run, it may less trying on your energy. Weigh your options

I had the same feeling after my 1st visit to Pro Teach on a Saturday. At least you were brave to register immediately. I came home and thought about it before decide to put my boy there.
It is not that bad if air con is switched on. I have seen a lady cleaner cleaning in the morning when I dropped by to to replenish my son clothes. -
Hi fairy & queen,
My hse here student care is quite small. I can say there are 3 room. 1 room for tution, 1room for playing, another room is for doing homework. They only take in max up to 12kids coz of the space. How abt Pro teach ?
Yes distance is my factor and I need to fetch 2kids at 1 go, not easy. But money concern also impt to me.
I have ask around the Yishun. All those student care is quite a distance to my house. Accept this that near my hse, else is the Pro teach or PCF near the Peiying.
So Queen,
May I know so far how is your son been doing wif Peiying since now he is in Pri 2?
I heard fm my student care incharge saying that not much home work for Pri 1 in Peiying,is tat so ?
Can you tell me more abt Peiying Sch?
