Dear PY Parents, must the white socks have PY's logo or any white socks can do?
Hi Felicia, what's your after school arrangement for your girl? Are you enlisting the help of student care? If you are, Pro-Teach (over at McDonalds side) offers after school care & tuition as well. This would kill 2 birds with 1 stone. In any case, do update me whether you find the 804 Maths tuition good after school starts.
As for name tag, not iron on meh?! Oops, sewing neatly is quite challenging! :slapshead: -
Hi FairyP,
i think white sock w/o logo is ok coz i read thru again the orientation slip that was given on tat day. it was stated white sock w/o any logo except PY 's logo. so shld be ok de.
i m a sahm now. Quitted my job half yr ago. Was not an easy choice but i hv no oth help unless i send my kids to school care. but it will be quite rush for me as well if i wil ned to fetch them from CC or student care after work. Bef tat we think of maid, student care but also due to some personal issue, i decided to quit.
Tats why i will ned to find some tuition for her as i dont hv the patience to guide own kids. Quite ironic coz when i m younger i used to teached small kids arts n etc. but own kids tend to get tense up easily.
ok i will let u know hows the RC tuition aft she atttend next yr. -
Hi Felicia,
Thanks, I'll buy my girl normal white socks then. :imcool:
It's definitely not an easy decision on your part to be a sahm & I can empathise with the sacrifice & struggle. However, this may only be a transitional arrangement. You could consider returning to work when your children are older. After school care is a good option if you can find one which is convenient with minimal travelling time. As for tuition, it's quite common that parents can't teach their own children...so no worries at all. :rahrah:
Oh yes, did you buy the A3 art bag eventually? The one I saw at Popular is around $6+ which is about the same price as what the school bookshop offers. Really not sure if there's a need to buy the art bag or not. Maybe, kiv 1st.

Hi Felicia09,
care to share how the tuition is like? any comments so far?
my DS is in P5 2013, and I have changed afew home tutors. From my experience, these home tutors are mostly students themselves and can't be bother apart from making money during their spare time. Any comments on the 804 tuition? I am thinking of putting my son in for a try.Felicia09:
i remember someone is asking about the tuition course at Blk804 RC.
i just came back from there and manage to talk to the teacher. A guy around the aged of 27-28yrs old. He's teaching Maths.
Quite impressive when he explained to me on how they teach the kids to solve the maths sum. But actual fact hv to try out first.
Currently no one register for P1 maths yet. And there're 2 P2 students now.
P1 and P2 students share the same timing. I believe coz the total students is not many.
He'll give out worksheet for the kids to do for the 1st 45mins, before he start teaching for the next 45mins. The teacher seem quite friendly and will jokes with the kids.
For those interested, currently the schedule for P1 is as below:
Eng > Tues > 5.30-7pm
Maths > Thurs > 3.00-4.30pm
Chinese > Mon > 5.00-6.30pm
One subject -$60/mth
2 subjects - $100/mth
3 subjects - $150/mth
Materials fee : $3/mth/subject
Registration fee : $10 (one time payment).
If interested, can call : 9864 9506, 9386 1088
Btw this tuition lessons is under a company called Spring College International. -
HI itsjustme,
Iβm not sure coz my girl will only be attending the maths class in coming January 2013, but i do have good impression on the teacher as he seems to be enthusiastic in teaching the kids. Maybe u can go to the RC on and talk to the teacher and understand more.
Btw, your DS so far only have home tutor? any other tuition class? -

HI FairyP,
As per my earlier post, the A3 art bag was sold @ $4.90 during the Popular Sale at expo. So i have brought one during that time. Even if school does not need it, i will use it for my kids art paper as they like to do coloring.
Today i was trying to sewn the name tag, and my sewing skill is terrible. Hope it dont look too ugly on my girl's uniform. Btw any idea, name tag also need to sewn on the PE shirt? -
Hi Queen,
Didn't hear from you for quite a while...can check with you on the following?
(i) Do we need to sew name tag on PE t-shirt?
(ii) Does P1 require use of the A3 art bag?
(iii) Normal white socks for PY can or is PY strict to enforce logo type?
Thanks
Hi qq_guy,
Didn't see your posts lately too. Bought uniform & books for your kid already?
Hi Felicia,
I'm seeking Queen's help to advise on the name tag part. Hopefully, either Queen or the other PY parents who see our post can assist too
As a last resort, I'll be going to PY next Mon to buy uniform & collect books. Will check with them if need be & let you know :imcool: -
Hi Felicia09,
thanks for your suggestion. I'll go down to have a look.
I only tried 1 to 1 tuition thus far as my belief is that my DS can get the attention of the tutor. But apart from his current Maths tutor that does helps him to improve, the same can't be said about his other tutors. I'll take a look and properly also the other tuition centre nearby.Felicia09:
