New cupcake joint at Toa Payoh North blk 203 (near 7-11). Flavours are interesting with dark chocolate earl grey being a very popular choice. The intensity of the earl grey is there and the texture is good. Moist, rich without being too cloying. Personally I would have liked the earl grey just a tad stronger but that’s just me. Salted caramel is a popular choice too. My friends who are into salted caramel gave it the thumbs up. Price wise, it is not cheap. $3.50. When you eat into the cupcake you will see why the price is such. They don’t skimp on ingredients. It is not "flavoured" but it is the real stuff which gives the flavour. There is another interesting pairing of earl grey and strawberry. I like the pairing, interesting and works well, but because they use real strawberries, the moisture of the fruit lends a heavier texture to the cupcake, which personally, I don’t like. Oh, chiffon cake seems to be a major hit too. Have to preorder and "chope", can’t walk in and buy. Actually cupcakes also, it is best to preorder, if not go at around 1pm to see the full range, that’s what the baker’s dad told me. By the way, there was a review on the shop in Sunday Times last week.

Sounds good. What’s the name of the shop? $3.50 for a cupcake is really expensive though.

The name of the shop is 51 Degrees. Blk 203 Toa Payoh North. $3.50 is expensive, that’s the price of 12 Cupcakes and most of the other big names. But quality is there and if you see the work that is being put in, I would pay for it. There is nothing "flavoured" or "coloured", just real stuff.

I like cupcakes which are all-real too. Don't like those with artificial coloring and flavoring.

Alternatively, bake it urself! It’s very easy and u could spend time with ur kids playing with the icing.

I am not a baker. I can cook but not bake. So I am happy to spend on "baked goods" so long as the price is justifiable, justifiable to me as I know everyone has a different cut-off point.

Twelve Cupcakes has pretty good cupcakes - and the best thing is they're moist and not too sweet. I've tried many places that supposedly sell \"good\" cupcake, but they are either too sweet or they are too dry inside. But then again, I now bake cupcakes and muffins instead of buying coz I realized that store-bought cupcakes are really over-priced and they are so simple to make ...
