Tingkat Dinner
-
Hi Mommies, I am using Tingkat deliveries from Chu Wei San Tong for a month now. My two kids, 4 and 6, like the food. Personally, I find the cooking quite healthy. Not oily at all and quite tasty. They go easy on salt as well, and no thirsty feeling after meals. Menu also looks good. Delivery is also quite prompt. I strongly recommend

i think your kids are too young to have tingkat.
I compare with my friend where she buy from supermarket is cheaper than wet market so actually wet market is not cheap.
MY soup cost will be high cos for me my children n hubby love to drink soup so my soup got a lot of good stuff.
I am just worry that tingkat is no good for small children.
maybe you could order tingkat for your hubby and yourself and cook some simple dishes for your kids.
i also dont wish my kids to have food poisoning lijke what happened at pat's schoolhouse (news report in papers today). -

SINGAPORE: The Health Ministry and National Environment Agency (NEA) are investigating a food poisoning incident involving a licensed caterer, Mum's Kitchen Catering Pte Ltd, which supplies food to Pat's Schoolhouse.
The statement added that the same caterer had been fined for lapses in December last year for a food poisoning incident involving 35 people at a company function. -
it doesnt really matter who the caterer is, the point is if you have young kids at home, it is better to cook their food yourself even if you are a lousy cook.
i am a very bad cook, there are times i have to throw the food away (very frustrating and unbelievable to those who can cook) and cook up another batch but at least i know what i am serving. -
Please take note of the food poisoning incident which hit Patschoolhouse by Mum's Kitchen Catering.

I ordered before their dinner. Unbelievable plain rice increase from 50 cents to 70 cents per packet and yet reduce the portion of rice by at least 25%. Guess maybe the boss try to maximize profit thus neglect the hygience. With these food poisoning case, I'm more determine not to put my family on risk by trying again their food..... :nunchuk:

On my opinion tingkat is definitely more expensive than home cooking. The only good thing abt tingkat is the convenience. When i need to work OT, it is quite impossible for me to rush home and get dinner ready on time. Alot of times how much one spend on marketing has to do with budgeting. Certain nights will be nice seafood dinner and on others will be simple vegetables, stir fry pork and a egg dish. It keeps the budget in check and also maintain good health. I add lots of toufu dishes in my meal preparations and avoid processed food like nuggets or hotdogs. For my family of 5, 2 adults, 2 school going children and 1 tod, my dinner ranges from $5 to $20. I also avoid food in small portion as they tend to be more expensive (and i have no time to do marketing daily).Hi,
just want to ask all the mummy whom order tingkat here.
- Is tingkat more cheap then you cook yourself at home?
cos for me I find is a bit ex to do home cooking cos i buy most of my ingredients at wet market and is not cheap man it cost me about 50-70 per week.
- Why you chose to order tingkat?
My maid is going back end of May and i will be taking care my 2 children myself, one is gg to 3yrs old and one is 15 mth only.
Do you advice tingkat for such a young age children?
Thank you very much!!!
Cheers
EIleen
Examples of this week dinner.
1. Kway tiao soup (kway tiao, red snapper, celery, mince pork, prawn) -$10
2. Rice, stir fry hairy gourd w tang hoon, steam promfert, omelette -$8
3. Rice, herbal chicken (whole chicken), xiao bai cai - $7
4. Porridge, stir fry celery (left over), steamed mince pork w toufu, sambal stingray - $6
5. boycott- not cooking.
These meals are usually quite ok with my non spicy kids, except sambal stingray. The older one will do some courages attempts, otherwise there is always toufu and pork to rely one.
Preparation is not so much of a problem it is the meal planning that is troublesome. Once u have everything planned out, it is alot easier and cheaper (no wastage). -
The problems with tingkat (not the mentioned company) are portions of food small, salty etc.
Home cooking may look cheaper but think of the time-spent in food preparation.
There is no doubt that home cooked food is cleaner and thus healthier.
